A: We don't make Hampton Bay brand lights, however, in general if you have an issue with hard water build up on the solar panel we would recommend trying to clean it off with either CLR or LimeAway or Vinegar which will break up the calcium and limescale. If you need additional assistance because of the candle please contact Home Depot since Hampton Bay is their brand. -SLHG

Q:How do i recharge batteries?

Answer This Question
A: They recharge themselves via the sun, but they will have to be replaced over time.

A: Make sure the Lantern is turned ON using the power switch. Leave it outdoors in a sunny location and it will charge over the course of the day and then come on automatically at night. If you want/need to boost charge the lantern to ensure it is fully charged, you can turn the lantern OFF (to ensure it doesn't come on automatically at night) and leave it outdoors for 2 days in good sunlight. That should ensure the batteries are fully charged and then you can switch to ON again for normal use. A: You remove several screws holding the top to get access to the batteries that are located on the bottom of the top cover.

A: in the top of the lantern

A: The batteries are located in the roof. You need to remove the 2 screws on the outside of the lantern and carefully remove the roof (careful there is a wire attaching it to the base that you don't want to break)! Gently turn the roof upside and you will see additional small screws on the box where the LEDs are. This is the battery cover. Remove the battery cover screws and the cover itself to access the batteries. Reverse this to replace and reconnect the cover and roof of lantern. Q:Can a 900mAh 1.2v NIMH battery be used in this unit?
by|Aug 27, 2017

Answer This Question
A: The San Rafael Estate Lantern includes 3 rechargeable AAA batteries. As long your batteries are AAA you could change them out. However, since 900mAh are higher capacity batteries (ones currently used are 600mAh), they will not fully charge in a day. This will not make the lantern work any better or worse. The lantern was created and optimized to fully charge in a day with the AAA 600mAh batteries that we have included.

A: Solar lanterns charge during the day (fully charged in 4-6 hours in direct sunlight and 6-8 hours in moderate sunlight) and run (glow) automatically (8 hours on a full charge) in the evening hours.
