Condescending, installation not to good industry practices

My project was a simple single casement window new construction installation. At 59, I was not going to tackle installing a window from the roof. I chose Andersen Window thus Home Depot. This is what I got:\r\n\r\nI asked the generic question about your refund policy and the salesperson got agitated. I meant a refund if the project went into the winter for some reason, but he thought that I meant from dissatisfaction. I now know why he thought that. There must have been many dissatisfied with the installation.\r\n\r\nThree times the inside trim had to be installed. Three times the installation was not done to manufacturers design or industry standards, Three times the installation covered up bad installation practices.\r\n\r\nI was accused of interfering causing the second bad installation. If I had been interfering, I would not have allowed these cover ups.\r\n\r\nThe owner of the install team broke my toilet. Fine, the part was old, but he tried to fix it himself. He shouldn't be putting his hands on other peoples stuff.\r\n\r\nI pointed out to the ISM that during the second installation my window crank was scratched and jamb was dented. (No longer a new window#. I was lead to believe the crank would be replaced or the paint touched up. Didn't happen.\r\n\r\nI sent and update of the project after the last trim installation to my salesperson, and asked to have this forwarded to the ISM. #I was remiss in getting the ISM contact information#.\r\n\r\nIn summary, I did not get my moneys worth. I got a window with a scratch, dent and bad trim installation. There was no follow-up to review the final product or how I felt about the installation.\r\n\r\nTo better serve your customers? Be honest and forthcoming. Customer satisfaction should be called installers satisfaction. It should be stipulated that the customer doesn't know what is acceptable practices or window integrity. The customer should be told that there may or may not be recourse to issues depending on Home Depots determination, regardless of the guarantee. It should be explained that the high price isn't for quality but the number of people that have to deal with customer issues raised.\r\n\r\nHow can I shop Home Depot anymore? Who is going to install any new Andersen windows in the future? Am I going to have to change brands #mismatch# in the future?\r\n\r\nI shopped Home Depot because they have a much more robust selection of products than Lowes. Lowes just doesn't cut it. Now they'll have to do.\r\n\r\nThank you very much. #Sarc.)

Smooth install process and good results

The install was good the crew was polite and professional. However one of the windows was measured wrong and that delayed completion of the project also you are responsible of all finish trim work. For some that could be a job killer.

Our windows look great.

We purchased wood windows and they are as pretty as I imagined they would be. Only glitch was in communication from sales to middle man to installers. It wasn't noted that a lift was needed for the second floor. The bow window had the wrong color roof put on but they changed it to the right color and now all is great.

Extensive installation communication, workmanship, and quality that went unresolved for almost a year

The installation quality and workmanship were so extensive, the issues had to go to the service general manger to get resolved. An insurance settlement was agreed to but of course for much less than the cost of repair. \r\n\r\nI am a Home Depot stock holder and the investor relations referred to an exciting committee that reviewed the case which went no where but identify how non responsive a corporate bureaucratic process is. \r\n\r\nThis whole experience was a disaster and Home Depot took little responsibility for the issues that were so obvious. \r\n\r\nThe Home Depot should be responsible enough to compensate me more than the insurance claim by double but did not\r\n\r\nMy family suffered during this horrible process and the only thing now that can resolve these countless issues is more compensation. At a minimum you could offer a letter of apology and a store gift card.
