I love our Home Depot. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I always find what I need for what ever project I am working on. I appreciate the healthy environment this Home Depot is providing for us the shoppers and the employees during this pandemic.

Employees come and go, overworked or just don't care. You'll find one or two who care and are knowledgeable, but it's pretty rare. Management must be hard to work for, as over the years, nothing seems to change. Still, it's the only place we can go for some items, so we are forced to endure some rudeness and inexperience. I did get one great gal in the appliance section who knew her stuff, otherwise I would have gone elsewhere. Checkout is horrendous. Usually only one or so clerks and self-checkout with large items is ridiculous. Could do MUCH better with a little better management or training.

I was only outside in the garden section, but was very clean

my husband and i always shop at the Oak Harbor store and love it, but this last time when buying a large purchase item, there mistakes made and no one apologized for the mistake, didn't not tell me about the delivery charge (thought it was free due to the amount) on my purchase and then called me telling me i got the wrong item after it was delivered(which they did get right) I talked with the girl who called who was apologized about the wrong item being delivered, i came home to check the item which turned out to be the right item and was told she was going to talk to her manager about what had happened with my purchase but when i called back she was not there and the guy only knew about me being called about the wrong item. just very frustrating with the whole purchase.

I like the Oak Harbor store because the people working there are friendly and helpful. I have been to the store in Everett, and did not particularly like it there...of course, this was during the pandemic, so maybe that was the problem.

The workers have always been very helpful with each visit to the store. Questions were answered and all the associates seemed friendly and had great attitudes. Any time I've needed assistance an associate was always nearby.

We ordered a large number of garden landscaping bricks and, in spite of clear instructions, the store wrote it up for the wrong color. To get the correct color, we were required to buy a full pallet -- which meant unused bricks and added expense. We were also told there would be a $90 delivery fee, when other local suppliers deliver for free. I incurred costs I couldn't pass on to my customer plus there was a one month delay in the project.

Customer service at this store is non-existent. If you require any assistance at all, go elsewhere to shop. You won't get it at this particular location. This latest of MANY crappy experiences at the Oak Harbor Home Depot: I requested help from 3 different employees with items on a high shelf in the back. The lower shelves were empty and there was a ladder sitting right there where needed, but customers are prohibited from climbing ladders at the store, which is understandable. Nobody could (i.e. "would") help me. Yet, I walked past 4 other employees on my way out the door. They were standing around chit-chatting; I caught snippets of conversation about personal matters as I walked by. The 2 females standing around and chatting were playing with their hair (working hard). I even tried to make my purchase online for pick-up later. I'm standing there with my phone looking up at the 2 items I wanted to purchase and the website won't allow me to make the purchase because the items are supposedly unavailable. Doh! Sure, this location is handy for local residents on the island, but it's worthwhile to drive a longer distance to shop with businesses that actually want to provide assistance and that value their customer base.

Associates extremely helpful in getting table saw. Brought one from storage directly to me. Now that's customer service.

Everything i needed was in stock and had great customer service.

I can ALWAYS find what i'm looking for!!! The front end employees are always nice, friendly and helpful which makes me keep returning. I love the variety of flowers and plants that i can always count on being there. I go to some smaller stores for flowers and its always the same boring ones and priced too high for plants that aren't being taken care of. Keep up the great work!!!!

Home Depot is a great store. However, a business this large should offer a way to use a military discount online or ordering something from the Pro desk in the store. There are many businesses that verify military credentials through online means. When I purchase a large dollar amount of building material, which is not in stock at the store, Home Depot does not offer the military discount. It is an easy fix to offer online military discount.

We are lucky here in Oak Harbor! Been to many Home Depot’s across the country and oak’s Home Depot Is top class!

Best Home Depot I have shopped at in Washington or California. There is always staff available who are both friendly and professional

A nice clean store with helpful friendly faces. Everything you could possibly need, and then some.

I do not recommend this store if you want to use installation services for doors/windows. They charged us to have someone come out to measure. After waiting over a month and leaving messages, no one ever contacted us. They did refund the fee.

During my visit I needed to create some circular items to help shape my food presentation. I was happy to meet Alex and Nathan who helped me to cut plastic pipes into 4 smaller shapes. I’m a frequent shopper here, coming roughly 2-3 times a week. Every experience has been great with helpful staff and friendly service. It’s clear that customer service is there top priority. Thanks to the two Jennifer for their kindness too.

My family loves this store. All the Associates are so helpful, they make sure your find what your looking for. Likewise when we were at check out, the cashier was equally friendly and the whole experience made you glad you shop there.

I love shopping at this particular Home Depot more than others. They have found a way to make a big box store feel like a small town mom and pop store. I always feel welcome and have no doubt that I will find what I need and get expert help if needed.

I can’t say enough about Oak Harbor’s Home Depot and the wonderful associates. They stock a great selection of DIY tools and supplies at competitive prices. They go above and beyond the typical expectations of keeping the store tidy and well kept. They almost always offer help before I have a chance to ask. They’re patient with all of my questions and knowledgeable about theIr products and where to find them. They’re very attentive to customers’ needs. They seem happy and proud to be working there, and are always kind and friendly to both me and my dog. It’s my favorite place to shop in Oak Harbor!

I'd like to quickly frame the context of this letter. In a previous life, I worked in management consulting. One of our service lines was improvement of the customer service "experience." As part of the development of our service line, I had to study customer service fundamentals significantly. There are 4 general categories of experiences a customer will have: 1. Bad - customer left with an actual bad feeling; will think twice about using the service again; 2. Neutral - nothing stands out as good or bad; customer will use service again if convenient; 3. Good - customer has positive experience; will most likely eagerly come back; and finally, 4. Revolutionary - a "Wow!" experience, the standard is set beyond what the customer could/would ever think to imagine; customer will not just seek opportunities to use the service again, but will happily promote the service to anyone who can use it, for the benefit of the service provider and those in need of service. My experience with your employee LORI in the Oak Harbor store falls into the fourth category: REVOLUTIONARY – a “WOW” experience. After several bad experiences with apathetic employees at other department stores with nothing being resolved, and my own despair that I would never get the kind of assistance I hoped to receive from other stores, I was, to say the least, pessimistic as I entered the Oak Harbor Home Depot store. I wanted to see if service here in Oak Harbor would be any different than on the mainland. Boy, was I ever surprised! I walked into the store looking for machine carved table legs. I walked over to the back of the store and saw a friendly looking lady (LORI) sitting at a desk typing. She saw me walking towards her and she stopped typing immediately and asked if she could help me. I told her what I was looking for. She immediately stood up and politely asked me to come with her and she would show me several choices. She showed me my various options and went to get a measuring tape to make sure the product met my specifications. I noticed the price of the legs was a bit more than I wanted to spend. Lori said, “May I ask if you have a Home Depot Credit account? If not, if you apply for an account, you can get $50 taken off the price of your purchase immediately." I thought that was a great idea! So, we filled out an application and I happily got my $50 discount. During our conversation, I mentioned that I was building a table. She got excited and said, “Let me show you an incredible deal on some quality wood .” We then walked over to a sale Home Depot was having on sheets of a gorgeous solid wood. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I thanked Lori profusely and told her she is the best example of Home Depot’s advertisement of excellent customer service. I could go on and on, but it is safe to say that Lori’s level of customer services never wanes; it is always evident in her personality. I tell you -- with this kind of service, there is absolutely no reason in the world why I would even bother to check out other stores in the area. I have never experienced anything even close to the level of Lori’s caring for her customers or her “can-do” attitude. What a unique experience. And I don’t keep this information to myself. I have told all my friends about Oak Harbor’s Home Depot and my great experience with Lori. Management at Home Depot needs to know the difference ONE person, ONE employee can make in the public’s perception of doing business with Home Depot. I understand that Home Depot has a huge task in dealing with its great number of customers. Most companies do. Regardless, from the functional standpoint, there is nothing I have found more frustrating than an uncaring, unhelpful and apathetic store employee. Lori obviously knows what customer service is all about. She should be teaching other service reps. She is obviously an expert in her field and in the art of dealing with people. I strongly feel that she should be the model by which Home Depot crafts its customer service goals. Some like to refer to quality people as an "asset" to an organization. In this case, that would be patronizing to Lori’s achievements. She lives and breathes honest, sincere customer service. I truly appreciate her and her attitude. She has made me a loyal Home Depot customer. I realize that this letter is quite effusive. I’m sorry, but I just can’t contain myself when I come across people who make the extra effort to do their best to make our world a little happier.
