How do I rent tools and trucks?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which trucks or tools you can rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. Can I rent a tool for a month?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and long-term projects are no problem. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a truck or moving van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before selecting a vehicle.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Make a note of the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
