Asked by: ted
This will not directly affect freezing up of lines. It will prevent gelling of oil and clean clogged lines.

Will this product work to clean out heavy (gas/oil) sludge from a portable red boat gas container?

I've tried a mixture of fresh fuel and stabilizer but sludge and oil droplets remain on interior and inside the (full/empty) gas gauge on the cap

Cleaned the inside, but you know there had to be some water left in there. When I turned on my furnace this year, I kept smelling oil in the house. Once I added this, the smell was gone. Must have been some sludge in there! I love it. I only used half because I only had 150 gallons installed, so I will add the rest when I put in another 150 before summer hits!

I am listing my house for sale in a month, and hope to have moved before it is time for the fall season oil furnace tuneup. When the filter is changed, it should be possible to determine whether or not the oil in the tank is still "sludgy." However, that will be for the new owner to determine.

I will definitely keep using this at every tank refill. Wish our oil service provider had told us about this additive BEFORE we had the sludge issue!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oil Tank Sludge I was informed by my service man that I had about 3" of sludge in the bottom of my oil tank and I might have about 2 years before it needed replaced. I was having to reset my furnace constantly until the oil level got low enough to add this product and get the tank filled. The first day or so after applying I still have to reset, but once I cranked the heat up and forced it to run hard for a while I have had no issues with needing to reset my furnace. So far this has been a saving grace and I will continue to use this product in my oil tank because of this fact. I would recommend using it from day one, but if you run into my situation it may just save your furnace and your current tank.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value and and seems to work I live in a mobile home that has an underground oil tank. When oil is delivered, I leave a bottle near the oil fill pipe so that the contents can be added and mixed thoroughly. Years ago I lived in a colder location where the oil actually froze in the line because of condensation and caused damage to the furnace. I use this product as a ounce of prevention. So far, no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for serious sludge When we moved into our house, our furnace was having a lot of issues. We finally discovered about 2 inches of sludge formed on the bottom of our fuel tanks, causing the nozzles and filters to become clogged completely, and no oil could move through the lines at all. The furnace repairman said that there was no way that much sludge could be cleared out with any product, and we would have to totally drain and clean the fuel tanks which in the middle of the bitter cold winter was not an option. However, after using this treatment, the sludge broke up and allowed fuel to pass through the lines again. We still needed to change nozzles and filters on a weekly basis due to our situation, but this product definitely saved us from losing our heat during sub-zero temperatures.
