Asked by: Barbara
They will last a long time outside in the weather, but will deteriorate somewhat over time. Especially, if you leave soil on the times. I leave an Ames wood handled turning fork on the deck and under the eave of the house when not in use during the summer. I have done this for a couple of years and have not seen any rust on the metal parts or any checking/cracking of the wood.

Is there a end cap for hanging
Asked by: schellyp
No. There is nothing to hang this from. I hang it tine-side up. This rake broke on me today, I'd recommend spending another $10 and getting something of higher quality.

Own several of these rakes.....Two in the Garden shed, two in the Barn, and also the main tool in the stalls.....solid product. The last purchase of this rake was used for interior décor. It was tough to cut away a brand new handle, but the end result was worth it. Photo attached. Thanks Home Depot!!

This afternoon while doing some raking, I noticed the head started getting loose. After using it a few more minutes, the tines tore out of the handle. The wood had split in 4 directions and even if I put it back together, it would just fall right back out. You get what you pay for. If you have just one or two quick jobs or aren't using it in tough ground (maybe just use it to spread mulch and fresh top soil), then it's not worth getting something tougher. It's quite an inconvenience when a tool breaks halfway through a job and you have to run to the store to replace it. I will be replacing this with a forged rake of higher quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product failure I looked carefully at this welded bow rake before purchase. I looked to see if it was American made and how it was constructed. I chose this model because of the wooden handle and how it was attached, I did have concern how the rake was attached to the bow. It was welded, but it did not look to be that strong and I suspected in time it would crack, but I thought I was being too cautious and I bought it anyway. It broke at the weld the same day I used it within 20 minutes. I don’t like to negative, but this account is true. For me, this particular rake failed, I advise caution, and I hope this company will improve their bow rake. Thank you

The left side where it is welded to the bow broke. Looked at the others when returning this and found two were cracked in the same spot. Need it for light sand leveling? should be fine. Need to put some muscle in it? Pay the extra money and buy the razor back. Nothing but props from home depot. They took one look at the rake(which was still pretty much clean) and took it straight back.

As with any hand tool, time will tell if it is durable and holds up under heavy use circumstances. The price was good and the rake didn't fall apart after using it a time or two. The handle is sturdy and it feels well balanced. For my purposes, which are mainly light duty chores, it will probably last a long time.

The good thing is the metal is so thin I was able to straighten it out with my foot. I forgot the age old "you only get what you pay for" and this cheap item is just that - CHEAP! I would recommend this for anything thicker than "thinning hair"!

Worked very well in the hands of my wife, she had one complaint, there were no directions on how to best use this instrument! I was about to send a photo of my wife using this product but, she hit me over the head with the rake and destroyed the pictures.
