They will last a long time outside in the weather, but will deteriorate somewhat over time. Especially, if you leave soil on the times. I leave an Ames wood handled turning fork on the deck and under the eave of the house when not in use during the summer. I have done this for a couple of years and have not seen any rust on the metal parts or any checking/cracking of the wood.

This afternoon while doing some raking, I noticed the head started getting loose. After using it a few more minutes, the tines tore out of the handle. The wood had split in 4 directions and even if I put it back together, it would just fall right back out. You get what you pay for. If you have just one or two quick jobs or aren't using it in tough ground (maybe just use it to spread mulch and fresh top soil), then it's not worth getting something tougher. It's quite an inconvenience when a tool breaks halfway through a job and you have to run to the store to replace it. I will be replacing this with a forged rake of higher quality.

Seems anything I buy at Home Depot doesn't last very long at all. Didn't return it it, just chucked it. I guess the rumor is true, they buy rejects then make you think you are getting a good deal because it's cheaper

The handle was fairly comfortable, but after 5 minutes the foam started to feel loose. It didn't come off, you just know it won't be long until it pops loose. That's why I only gave it 4 stars. The connection of wood to metal seem excellent. The tines are the correct angle for a person of average height. The handle is of an a ergonomic design, and overall, quite a rakish design (pun inteded.)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product failure I looked carefully at this welded bow rake before purchase. I looked to see if it was American made and how it was constructed. I chose this model because of the wooden handle and how it was attached, I did have concern how the rake was attached to the bow. It was welded, but it did not look to be that strong and I suspected in time it would crack, but I thought I was being too cautious and I bought it anyway. It broke at the weld the same day I used it within 20 minutes. I don’t like to negative, but this account is true. For me, this particular rake failed, I advise caution, and I hope this company will improve their bow rake. Thank you

The left side where it is welded to the bow broke. Looked at the others when returning this and found two were cracked in the same spot. Need it for light sand leveling? should be fine. Need to put some muscle in it? Pay the extra money and buy the razor back. Nothing but props from home depot. They took one look at the rake(which was still pretty much clean) and took it straight back.

Worked very well in the hands of my wife, she had one complaint, there were no directions on how to best use this instrument! I was about to send a photo of my wife using this product but, she hit me over the head with the rake and destroyed the pictures.
