Work for Gibraltar High Grove Mailbox?

Would the Gibraltar High Grove Mailbox Model (#HM16LC01 / Internet #203630498 / Store SKU #629561) fit on this post?
Asked by: sunnymonkey
The bolt hole pattern on this post is 4 x 10, it also includes an adapter plate that fills the false bottom for Architectural Mailboxes. You will need to confirm that the Gibraltar mailbox bolt hole pattern will work with this post's bolt hole pattern.

Do only mailboxes of the same brand fit this post?

I see in some reviews that standard mailboxes do not fit this post, that you must use a box made by this manufacturer. Has anyone had a different experience and used a different brand box? If so, what size?
Asked by: maddie3260
Hello, the elephantrunk is a parcel drop box. You will need to check with your local post office to confirm they will allow this unit to be used as a mailbox.

I didn't install it but heard no complaints from my handyman. I purchased the Bellevue black mailbox by the same brand at another store, in black. When I first took the post out of the box it looked very dark and I almost decided against the black mailbox because I worried there wouldn't be enough contrast between the two. But it looks great and complements my house color (Anonymous by Sherwin Williams) and black shutters. I love it and am glad I spent the extra money on something special instead of basic wood or plastic. Love the finial, too.

This mail post has a great powder coat finish and the cast aluminum parts are robust. Fasteners supplied with the product are above average for quality. Style is understated elegance, adds a bit more curb appeal and is certainly a stand-out compared to typical treated wooden posts. Letter carrier said "wow" and she sees a lot of 'em. As others have noted, the mailbox adapter plate does not fit all mailboxes and none of the local Home Depot stores stocked a suitable mailbox. All the "universal" adapter plates I saw would require drilling to match the Architectural shelf holes so I opted to simply drill new holes in the mailbox. While it was relatively easy for me to drill new holes in my mailbox to match the adapter plate, not everyone has this ability. Further, about 3/16 inch of the adapter plate is visible below the mailbox. It looks fine to me but others may expect this part to be fully hidden. If these things bother you, be sure and order one of the Architectural branded mailboxes listed as fitting this post.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall a very good product, sturdy with nice detail Overall a very good product, sturdy with nice detail. However, the product description nor the instructions do not explain that a standar size mailbox will not fit the support arm, you must install a wide mailbox that has screw holes located in the correct positions. A standar size mail does not fit at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid post The post is very solid and coordinates well with the matching mailbox. I even got a compliment from the mailman -- "nice mailbox!"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coronado Mailbox and Decorative post Sturdy and very attractive in its simplicity. Delivery was right on Home Depot's projected date. My husband assembled, dug the hole and poured the concrete so all that went very easily for me. The assembly required no swear words from him, so I gather directions were straight forward and in some comprehensible language and format. EVERYONE who has seen our new mailbox setup has been most admiring of it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with newspaper box The post is sturdy and attractive. However, it won't work with mailboxes from other manufacturers, and it doesn't work well with a newspaper holder (even from Architectural), because the arm sticks out much further than the newspaper box and looks odd (extra screw holes are in the part sticking out). I spent several hours making another brand's mailbox & newspaper holder (I don't like Architectural's mailbox styles) fit on the Architectural post. It still looks a little odd because I mounted the newspaper holder towards the front so the arm only sticks out 1 inch it, but that makes a 3.5 inch gap between the newspaper holder and the post (below the mailbox). I have no complaints about the post itself -- just the difficulty in making it work with a newspaper box and other brand mailbox.
