If assembled correctly you should be able to rotate the handle at the bottom of the chute. It is a bit stiff on mine but easy enough to turn.

You may have installed the shoot incorrectly. I had a little trouble lining up all the holes the screws had to go through but once I got past that I added the oil and had it running in only minutes. make sure you put the pieces together in the right order.

Answer:
Try and get the machine into a warm area and see if possibly ice has developed on the shoot flanges. Also look for mechanical issues i.e. something binding the worm gear mechanism.

Answer:
You may want to closely review the assembly instructions of the shoot to make sure the pieces were assembled in the proper order. The shoot should rotate rather easily with light to moderate force using the handle.

Answer:
With the handle folded down the discharge chute is a bit higher so you need at least 29 to 30 inches. The 32 inches for the SUV should give you plenty of wiggle room.

It is best to check with Home Depot to see if they leave the equipment in a box or if they will have it out of the box with the handle bars down.

Answer:
I would highly recommend not using this on a gravel driveway. To self propel the machine the rubber paddles will contact the ground and pull itself forward. When this happens you will most likely be pulling in gravel, that gravel will need to be discharged through the chute and may cause damage to machine.

Answer:
Personally I would be cautious. The impeller has rubber "blades" which clean very close to the surface of whatever you are clearing. When using mine on pavement or black top it has thrown small stones or pieces of ice with considerable force. My guess would be the gravel would be tossed around and might damage the machine.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product but Handle broke the first time I used it. I am really disappointed that the handle broke the first time I used the snow blower. When I reached out to Ariens, their response was to contact a local dealer. I expect better customer service then to just be told to contact a local dealer. They should have taken the time to send my a new handle. It was under warranty. I should not have to find a local dealer and drive there to pick up a new handle. February 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great I'm a widow and just got to use my snowblower for the first time...started on the first pull and simple to operate so I'm going to think positive that I'll get many years use out of this machine... February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great snow blower! Great snow blower; it handled DCSnowZilla2016 without any problems. January 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ariens Path-Pro SS21 21 in. 208 cc Single-Stage Gas Snow Blower Came on time, packaged well, and assembled easily. I used this twice in the last day, about 5 inches of medium weight snow each time. The blower works well for a single stage. (I also have a 2 stage Ariens 5524 for heavier jobs. This unit cleans down to the cement well, much better than the 2 stage one. I even handle to approach snow that the city snowplow left for us okay. The skin on the unit seems to rattle some. We purchased two of them, one for ourself and one for a daughter. Both drip from the carberator when primed. Not sure about this so I need to call Ariens about it. Wish we could have purchased this locally in our store but it was only available online. December 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent machine Really pleased with this machine! Used 3 times so far on snowfalls between 4-9". Performs really well. Tackled some 15" drifts and it just chews its way through (albeit at a slower pace). Couldn't ask for more. Have the 208cc model and it seems to have a lot of power. Packed very well from the factory. Unfolded the handle, 3 screws to mount the discharge chute, poured in supplied oil, gassed it up and it started on the first pull. (And continues to start on the first pull every time.) Did a lot of research on their engineering of this model and it seemed to stand out from the competitors. Couldn't be happier with it! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to pull start I bought this snow blower without electric start to save some bucks and it is easy to pull start. Easier than a lawn mower. We had 3 inches of very wet snow and this blower did ok. Seemed a little under powered for those conditions. It got the job done but was a little sluggish in these conditions. This is my first snow blower and overall very happy so far. It pulls itself along somewhat so did not have to push extremely hard. Wish it had larger tires. November 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Packs a punch I have a two car driveway of paver stones. I have used it in wet sloppy snow and fluffy snow about 9 inches deep. While it didn't throw the wet snow very far, I was able to clear my driveway easily. The fluffy stuff was thrown very well and it never bogged in anything. It even carved through the wall of snow from the plow. Super impressed with how powerful it is and how easy it is to store. I have a one car garage and can squeeze it around my jeep and when it's not snowing I have a ceiling lift that can pull 250lbs. Highly recommend this single stage for everything Long Island has had thrown at it this winter. March 4, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Machine, but... Excellent machine, but be careful that you are sure what model you are purchasing if you do so online. Description of product on Home Depot website was different than what I received. Still a quality machine except for the scraper under the auger. It is made of plastic and when in was installed on my machine the bolts were tightened too much resulting in the scraper being wavy. I needed to remove the plastic scraper and install an aluminum one instead. Now it cleans beautifully. December 14, 2014
