Hello Buckbaby,
We appreciate your question. Our Marquee paint can be applied to existing oil-based paints, but typically those types of coatings are slick or glossy. If that is the case, then we'd recommend lightly sanding to roughen up the surface a bit. Then, after wiping off the surface with a damp rag and allowing it to dry, you'd be ready to paint. Please be sure to follow all label instructions Read More

Answer:
Hi Sharon!
Thanks for writing in, and great question. I'd recommend using the satin finish. This pearl-like film will protect better against the exposure to moisture, and is easier to clean than lower sheens. Hope this helps, and good luck on your project! Best, Jeanette P.

Answer:
Hello Kar,
Great question. We would not recommend adding floetrol to our Marquee. We recommend using it as is. However, if it’s being sprayed on, you can add up to 8oz of water per gallon.
Best regards,
Kevin

Hello connie,
Great question. Yes, our Marquee in the color MQ4-59 Purple Gladiola is available in a satin finish. If it's currently not available online, then you can also purchase it at your nearest Home Depot store.
Best regards,

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 531 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome coverage & finish, just beautiful. Our painter didn't believe it, but it DOES cover in 1-coat. Highly recommended! October 25, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Doesn't Always Stick to the Wall The paint covers well but doesn't stick well when masked later for caulking or other trim. Even when left in place for more than a week and using blue painters easy release tape the paint still pulls off of the wall. Touching up all of the places needing fixing is time consuming pain in the butt. This is the best most expensive paint Home Depot sells, but with this issue I wouldn't recommend it over less expensive paints. September 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked Like a Charm! Goodbye Horse Covered Vinyl Wallpaper! I convinced my parents to purchase this paint as I had seen the advertisements for the "One Coat Coverage." We were attempting to paint over a very busy vinyl wallpaper that covered the kitchen walls in my parents' older but newly purchased mobile home. Although this paint is a little spendy, it does exactly as it says. It covers in one coat! Even on vinyl wallpaper, it adhered and covered well. I can't honestly say that another type of less expensive paint wouldn't do just as well after several coats, but to be honest, my time is worth more than that. One coat coverage with this paint is the way to go! August 31, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by beware of "one coat guarantee" I purchased this paint specifically for the one coat guarantee. I had planned to paint my fiancé's home office as a surprise while he was away on business; it was important that the chosen paint need one coat so it would have time to dry and offgas before the office would be needed again. (He works remote, so it's a daily-use office.) The prior wall color was a creamy white, and I chose a medium tone blue. I prepped the walls with diluted vinegar to ensure a clean surface. I applied paint as I always do: I edged first with a Wooster brush, then coated the walls generously using a premium no-lint roller nap. However, once dry I noticed white spots showing through in various places. I did not have time for a second coat, so I quickly touched up a few key (eye-level) spots with a foam brush. When I asked my local Home Depot about the "one coat guarantee", offering to bring in pictures if needed, I was only offered more paint. As I explained to the folks at the paint counter, more paint is not needed; this is an 8x10 room with 7 windows and French doors and thus only about 150 square feet, if that, of painted walls. Had I known two coats would be required regardless, I wouldn't have purchased the more-expensive Marquee paint. Apparently this isn't a reasonable line of thought. I was very disappointed to learn they wouldn't even refund me the difference in cost, which is all that I requested. Will not buy paint here again. I should have known better; I'm normally Benjamin Moore loyal, but I was willing to gamble that big box store paint has improved. Clearly it has not. August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better than Advertised When they stated that it would only require one coat I was skeptical. I had a forest green wall that I needed to make a light cream color and was not looking forward to having to spend all day painting so I paid more for the marquee paint. I wish I had done this earlier because I was absolutely floored by how well it worked. It may have been nearly twice as expensive as what I would normally buy but I had to use 1/2 the paint and 1/4 of the time to devoted to the project. The picture that I took was specifically to text to my wife to prove to her that it only took one coat because she did not believe me that it could be done. I am very impressed with the quality and ease of its use. I recommend this product highly. We used 2 gallons to paint our living room, the hall way, and the bed room and we were changing the color of the rooms from a very dark green and blue to a light cream color. If you look at the picture you can see the green paint at the edge of the paint and know that it took only one coat. July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holds color well This was recommended for the bright green pigment we used for our 2nd bedroom. The color is brilliant, some did come off when we pulled the tape along the ceiling. 1 1/2 coats over primer, used half the can. This October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Loved it After reading a lot of conflicting reviews we were not 100% sure on the paint but decided to go for it. We were painting over a dark maroon room as well as two lighter green and brown rooms. It worked great! Once we got the hang of using the paint (which was not too difficult) the 1 coat coverage was legit. The only spots we had to touch up were spots where we'd messed up by not using enough paint. The Statuesque color was a little grayer than we anticipated but we ended up loving it. No offense but I think the people that are 1 starring this product suffer from user error. (Also - if you're not using one of the Marquee colors they don't guarantee 1-coat coverage. That's in the written information.) May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Will cover up anything you wanted covered on your wall. Great paint October 25, 2016
