Answer:
Why would you unplug it? If you are mowing, you must leave it plugged in to get the job done. This unit does not have a battery, so you must leave it plugged in.

This is a corded model and must remain plugged in while in use.
Start your mowing job closest to the electrical outlet and work your way out. Be ever mindful of where the cord is so you don't run it over. Similar to using a vacuum inside your house...

Is the cord annoying when mowing?

Between my lawn and the outlet is a garden of summer flowers with stairs down the center. I am concerned that the cord will "rake" over my garden back and forth as I mow. Is there a solution, other than going cordless? (battery replacements vs. annoyance of cord.) Thanks.

I do not find the cord annoying. Of course you have to keep moving the cord to avoid running over it. Answer:
The cord can be annoying but I'm getting better with using after several tries. You may just need a longer cord to go around the flower bed.
I looked at the battery models as well and the mowers were significantly costlier.
I've have good luck with the B&D electric products, my EdgeHog is 12 years old and still works like a champ.
So far I've been pleased with my pruchase.

Answer:
I've always used a corded lawn mower. I don't have the strength to pull the gas models and I have gotten quite used to the cord. Yes, you must be careful around some shrubs, so you stop what you are doing and move It!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Corded Electric Lawn Mower Took an hour to get the handle inserted. The 2 screws to be used to secure the handle were not the right ones, they did not fit, so was unable to secure the handle properly. As a result I have to use it with the handle looser than it should be. I think when the handle was drilled for the holes for the screws - they did not make them large enough, there is no way the screws will go into those holes. Also, there is an orange plastic "thing" hanging in the center of the handle - is this to somehow stable the cord? If so, how? Instruction booklet is not clear, in fact, the instruction details must have been written by someone who did not understand how to put something together, very poor instructions. August 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not As Advertised I need a grass catcher for my mower and since the bag for my previous mower ripped and the bag was no longer sold, I needed to buy a new mower. I specifically chose this model because of the unrippable plastic grass catcher. It turns out the picture is wrong and you get a bag just as I had before which will eventually rip and need to be replaced if they choose to continue making them. Misleading photo by Home Depot. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great mower Very easy assembly, smooth and easy to control. Have only used a few times, so we'll see how it lasts. July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Right Choice Had no problems putting together. Lighter than any other lawn mower I've used. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It's fun to mow again! I totally love my Black+Decker electric mower. I'll be 69 yrs old. Those pull start mowers aren't for my arms. This mower uses no oil or fuel. Plug it in and go. Light weight I don't have to wrestle with it to turn and go the other way. Wish I had this years ago! July 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good lawn mower for the price I have used this mower 3-4 times since I got it. Haven't really noticed any problems. It is a good lawn mower for the price. The cable management system works well if you follow the instructions in the manual. The only problem I have noticed, which isn't really a problem but just a suggestion for B+D is that the tabs where you wrap the extension cord around need to be bigger. I use a 50ft extension cord and it is not easy to wrap it all. I bet if you use a 25ft cable, you would be fine. And I wish there was a way I could hang this mower in my garage instead of just having it sit there. June 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleased I have been a fan of electric mowers for several years, and this is my third (maybe fourth?) electric mower. I like the fact that it comes with a grass catcher and have been very pleased with the performance and ease of use. It is also very lightweight and I have no trouble maneuvering it around all obstacles in my small yard. As I am older and have limited arm strength, this is an important feature. It is also easy to store, clean and I love that there is no gas or oil to worry about. Very pleased! June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Lawn Mower The electric mower works excellent. It is very easy to start, light weight, and you can raise or lower the mower blade as necessary. It has an height indicator reader and the catch bag comes on and off easily. I haven't found anything that I don't care about. June 28, 2016
