Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by studentforlife Automatic String Feeder requires frequent intervention
Rugged, well-made, simple, easy to flip between edger and trimmer. I like using it as an edger. But automatic feeder doesn't work. In the beginning, it wouldn't release line; I kept having to disassemble, let some line out, and reassemble. I called B&D and they sent me a replacement cover. Then it started working great for a couple of months. But then it started feeding an entire spool per trimming (and I don't have a large yard). Last week my wife had to trim, and she was carrying wire cutters to get the job done when it fed too much. Now, it feeds so much line that it become tangled. It finally wrapped the line around and around under the motor and killed itself.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NormalDIYer Useless without a reliable line feed
Used one time. Great power and features. But like many other reviewers, I had problems with the line feed. I figure it is hit or miss on getting a good unit and I got a bad one. I called tech support and after describing the problem, they recommended returning it to the retailer with no other suggestion. Will do. I'm guessing this is such a common problem resulting from a poor line feed design, they just have customers return it. IF the line feed worked, this could be a great trimmer.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by SelfReliantHomeowner Very mediocre product
This string trimmer is a major step down from previous generation B&D string trimmers. The lever for changing from edging to trimming is awkward and a hassle to use. The single strand string spool is poorly constructed and this thing goes through string very, very quickly. I think they put the wheel on to help people make a controlled edge along their lawn. In reality, the wheel is worthless and gets in the way. Hint: making a nice edge requires practice and a bit of care. The wheel doesn't affect either one of those criteria.
In short, this product is relatively inexpensive compared with gas powered trimmers. The problem is that it is nowhere near as good at it's job compared to the gas models. I've just about had it with buying string like there is no tomorrow for this thing and I am likely to break down and spend the bucks for a gas trimmer.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tator excellent product
Due to the motor being located at the top a better balance has been achieved. The other plus to the motor location is the safety when working in wet areas. The head design for the trimmer spool is much better than any I've experienced with previous products I've owned. With the fuel quality we have today, this is the way to go for ones personal residence, as only a 100' power cord is required.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Grassmuncher1922 Good Value, Good for B&D product
This unit replaced my old B&D dual string weed whacker. Was having significant trouble getting line to feed on old unit; followed manual instructions but feeder was cheap and worn out. This new unit feeds much better and feels very light in the hands. Cuts through grass, weeds and ankles with ease, although not all when used properly.
