This model is corded so no need to mess with expensive batteries.. I recommend at least a 16 gauge extension cord for this model. See the attached video for tips on how to use this trimmer/edger.

The electric black and decker weed eater ( Grasshog) that I have now, which is discontinued, has dual (2) lines that cut. With 2 lines it does an above fantastic job of trimming and edging. Does this model have just one line to cut, or 2 lines that cut.

Just one, however, I really think it's worth a try. The 7.5 amps makes it very powerful so you may just be surprised.

Yes, and you should use only round .080 line. The link below shows the type of line you should use from Home Depot.

Hey Jay906,
USE ONLY .080 inch (2.0 mm) DIAMETER ROUND NYLON MONO FILAMENT LINE. Do not use serrated or heavier gauge line, as they will overload the motor and cause overheating.

Hi Jay906.
Thank you for your question.
The manufacturer specs call for a .80 line. It does not mater if it is triangle or round, as long as it is a .80 line. The thicker the line, the heavier it is.
It is the weight that is the issue. The .80 triangular line should work just fine.

your owner's manual give two line sizes. On page 26 in Spanish, it says to use a .065 line. On the front page in English, it says to use a .080 line. Could you please clear this up?

Answer:
Your model GH 3000 uses the .080 line or the SF 080 spool.
The .065 line and the AF 100 spool on the Spanish page is a typo. Neither are listed for your trimmer.

I use .080 line and it works fine. Except for when the cutter cuts a piece of line off and it flys into my leg and takes a chunk out of my calf.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Strong, not heavy and gets the job done Back in March, 2016, I bought online from the HD a Ryobi Expand-It straight shaft weed eater. It did the job, but was extremely heavy and found myself taking many a break. I cleaned it, put it away and stored it. Here in the desert southwest the rains hit us in August and weeds begin propping up anywhere & everywhere. I have a corner home and the parkway is like 15 feet wide and desert landscape rock does not work.. Weeds always appear. I took out the Ryobi to get to work and nothing. It did not work at all. As if the motor was dead. The warranty from HD had already expired, but the factory warranty was good for 2 years. Ryobi will fix it for free. I called the local business that has the contract with Ryobi and they told me to bring it on in with my receipt. No problem, except for one problem... they were backed up in repairs and it would take over a month for it to get repaired. Well, my weeds couldn't wait and the City of El Paso's Code Compliance were out in force. I couldn't exactly tell them my weed wacker was in for repairs. Ha! I get back online to the HD and began looking for another weed eater. I decided to get the Black & Decker 7.5 amp, single line whacker. I read all the instructions, very easy to assemble if any. Away I go outside to conquer my weeds. I was impressed! The machine is not as heavy as the Ryobi, a strong cutter. I like the fact that the motor is on top and not at the bottom. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to restring the machine. String lasts a long time too. I like the fact that machine came with a fully loaded bin of string. I have been using this machine for like 8 afternoons now and it's a strong machine. This Black & Decker string trimmer is a keeper! Anyone wanna buy a repaired Ryobi? Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The only one you need. If you're a home owner with an average sized yard, this is the only string trimmer you'll need. Get rid of that troublesome gas powered trimmer and buy this. The 7.5 amp motor provides plenty of power for the average yard. The wheel on the bottom is a great idea as is the adjustable function to go from sidewalk edging to weed whacking. The automatic feed works about 90% of the time. Occasionally you have to stop and manually feed the string out. That's my only problem with this. This is a great product in my opinion. I'll never go back to unreliable gas trimmers. October 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works awesome and easy to use. Easy and lightweight. Easy to transition from weed eating to edger. Fantastic October 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy Its cheap. And i like that the engine is on top unlike the other one i had. Also its easier to handle. Overall im very happy with it September 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WORKHORSE: Completely Happy! Easy assembly, minimal really. Got corded because gas versions spend too much time at small engine repair shops. Battery version more expensive, less power. Bought a 100-foot extension cord. The yard is a medium sized city lot. This GH3000 is just the ticket. Nearly finished the yard on one spool. Spools c. $10 true but still cheaper than the $75.00 yard guy who shows up three WEEKS after Mom calls him. The EDGER is fantastic!!! I love this weed walker. A true WORKHORSE. Good price and is reliable, even on weeds growing up through rocks. I actually look forward to using it because the lawn looks BETTER than the yard guy does it! Love the 7.5 Amps. Stores in garage by hanging handle from a bicycle hook. P.S. l like the cord retainer clip so the cord won't pull out near the trigger. THANX Black+Decker! September 21, 2016
