does it take a battery or do u use a cord

It is electric and requires a cord.

does this cut with 2 lines or just one.

The electric black and decker weed eater ( Grasshog) that I have now, which is discontinued, has dual (2) lines that cut. With 2 lines it does an above fantastic job of trimming and edging. Does this model have just one line to cut, or 2 lines that cut.

Can you use any .080 style line with the unit?

.080 round line is getting hard to get. Can you use .080 triangle or six bladed line with it?
Asked by: Jay906
Yes, and you should use only round .080 line. The link below shows the type of line you should use from Home Depot.

Customer Reviews

7.5 Amp 14 in. Curved Shaft High Performance String Trimmer is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 198.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from LINE HOG NOT Grass Hog I own a Toro line trimmer that was giving me fits with line breakage and having to rewind the spool all the time. I looked at a number of electric trimmers and landed on the GH3000. However, many of the reviews indicated that it was a LINE HOG. So, I did some research and found a way to significantly reduce this problem. I really like this trimmer as the motor is in the handle and, with the right type of line, does my yard with less than a yard of trimmer line. I recommend this to anyone who has a moderate size yard but want a more powerful trimmer... using the trimmer line I found that works. The link below will detail the type of line you need to purchase at Home Depot to save you time and money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only one you need. If you're a home owner with an average sized yard, this is the only string trimmer you'll need. Get rid of that troublesome gas powered trimmer and buy this. The 7.5 amp motor provides plenty of power for the average yard. The wheel on the bottom is a great idea as is the adjustable function to go from sidewalk edging to weed whacking. The automatic feed works about 90% of the time. Occasionally you have to stop and manually feed the string out. That's my only problem with this. This is a great product in my opinion. I'll never go back to unreliable gas trimmers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! My two cents...I read all the reviews and still bought one thinking that I could always return it. True B&D has lost it's quality luster over the years but "bang for the buck" this is one powerful hand held unit. The "extreme amount of line usage" does not exist with my unit. One thing that tipped me off to dealing with this problem were three comments in reviews that kept popping up....1. that this is one powerful unit, used a lot of line (self feeding feature of the unit), & 3. recommendation from a few souls "Do not blip the throttle". Hold it wide open consistently. If you really think about it logically from a mechanical side - if it has all that torque and then you combine it with a self-feed feature, the trigger point for the "line feed" is the torque. By blipping the throttle you're defeating all the physics engineered into the process and it causes it to bypass the normal torque loads encountered spiking it and forcing it to spool out more line. I used mine (no blipping), for two hours in 18" weeds and I still have over half the spool left. I think the "non-blipping" warning from previous users is pretty solid. This is one great unit. It devours weeds.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this B&D trimmer It is a single string and goes through whole spools three orfour times per use. I have had to replace the spool three times already because they split apart. I finally gave up and bought another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong, not heavy and gets the job done Back in March, 2016, I bought online from the HD a Ryobi Expand-It straight shaft weed eater. It did the job, but was extremely heavy and found myself taking many a break. I cleaned it, put it away and stored it. Here in the desert southwest the rains hit us in August and weeds begin propping up anywhere & everywhere. I have a corner home and the parkway is like 15 feet wide and desert landscape rock does not work.. Weeds always appear. I took out the Ryobi to get to work and nothing. It did not work at all. As if the motor was dead. The warranty from HD had already expired, but the factory warranty was good for 2 years. Ryobi will fix it for free. I called the local business that has the contract with Ryobi and they told me to bring it on in with my receipt. No problem, except for one problem... they were backed up in repairs and it would take over a month for it to get repaired. Well, my weeds couldn't wait and the City of El Paso's Code Compliance were out in force. I couldn't exactly tell them my weed wacker was in for repairs. Ha! I get back online to the HD and began looking for another weed eater. I decided to get the Black & Decker 7.5 amp, single line whacker. I read all the instructions, very easy to assemble if any. Away I go outside to conquer my weeds. I was impressed! The machine is not as heavy as the Ryobi, a strong cutter. I like the fact that the motor is on top and not at the bottom. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to restring the machine. String lasts a long time too. I like the fact that machine came with a fully loaded bin of string. I have been using this machine for like 8 afternoons now and it's a strong machine. This Black & Decker string trimmer is a keeper! Anyone wanna buy a repaired Ryobi? Rick Melendrez El Paso, Texas
