This model is corded so no need to mess with expensive batteries.. I recommend at least a 16 gauge extension cord for this model. See the attached video for tips on how to use this trimmer/edger.

does this cut with 2 lines or just one.

The electric black and decker weed eater ( Grasshog) that I have now, which is discontinued, has dual (2) lines that cut. With 2 lines it does an above fantastic job of trimming and edging. Does this model have just one line to cut, or 2 lines that cut.

Just one, however, I really think it's worth a try. The 7.5 amps makes it very powerful so you may just be surprised.

Hey Jay906,
USE ONLY .080 inch (2.0 mm) DIAMETER ROUND NYLON MONO FILAMENT LINE. Do not use serrated or heavier gauge line, as they will overload the motor and cause overheating.

Hi Jay906.
Thank you for your question.
The manufacturer specs call for a .80 line. It does not mater if it is triangle or round, as long as it is a .80 line. The thicker the line, the heavier it is.
It is the weight that is the issue. The .80 triangular line should work just fine.

your owner's manual give two line sizes. On page 26 in Spanish, it says to use a .065 line. On the front page in English, it says to use a .080 line. Could you please clear this up?

Answer:
Your model GH 3000 uses the .080 line or the SF 080 spool.
The .065 line and the AF 100 spool on the Spanish page is a typo. Neither are listed for your trimmer.

I use .080 line and it works fine. Except for when the cutter cuts a piece of line off and it flys into my leg and takes a chunk out of my calf.

Customer Reviews

7.5 Amp 14 in. Curved Shaft High Performance String Trimmer is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 197.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from LINE HOG NOT Grass Hog I own a Toro line trimmer that was giving me fits with line breakage and having to rewind the spool all the time. I looked at a number of electric trimmers and landed on the GH3000. However, many of the reviews indicated that it was a LINE HOG. So, I did some research and found a way to significantly reduce this problem. I really like this trimmer as the motor is in the handle and, with the right type of line, does my yard with less than a yard of trimmer line. I recommend this to anyone who has a moderate size yard but want a more powerful trimmer... using the trimmer line I found that works. The link below will detail the type of line you need to purchase at Home Depot to save you time and money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only one you need. If you're a home owner with an average sized yard, this is the only string trimmer you'll need. Get rid of that troublesome gas powered trimmer and buy this. The 7.5 amp motor provides plenty of power for the average yard. The wheel on the bottom is a great idea as is the adjustable function to go from sidewalk edging to weed whacking. The automatic feed works about 90% of the time. Occasionally you have to stop and manually feed the string out. That's my only problem with this. This is a great product in my opinion. I'll never go back to unreliable gas trimmers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made the right choice, best purchase ever Being a women who never did hard labor in the yard, I was looking for something that was light weight and easy to use for trimming the grass in my yard, well I'm glad I picked the electric trimmer. I was looking for something that wasn't to complicated like measuring gas and oil etrc.. I mad the right choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! My two cents...I read all the reviews and still bought one thinking that I could always return it. True B&D has lost it's quality luster over the years but "bang for the buck" this is one powerful hand held unit. The "extreme amount of line usage" does not exist with my unit. One thing that tipped me off to dealing with this problem were three comments in reviews that kept popping up....1. that this is one powerful unit, 2.it used a lot of line (self feeding feature of the unit), & 3. recommendation from a few souls "Do not blip the throttle". Hold it wide open consistently. If you really think about it logically from a mechanical side - if it has all that torque and then you combine it with a self-feed feature, the trigger point for the "line feed" is the torque. By blipping the throttle you're defeating all the physics engineered into the process and it causes it to bypass the normal torque loads encountered spiking it and forcing it to spool out more line. I used mine (no blipping), for two hours in 18" weeds and I still have over half the spool left. I think the "non-blipping" warning from previous users is pretty solid. This is one great unit. It devours weeds.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Get an upgrade or another brand It balances good, it's easy to use and quick to adjust as needed. A huge drawback for me is the self-feeding line. Don't buy unless your willing to invest in buying a lot of line. It self feeds almost constantly. I can't finish my front lawn without respooling again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this B&D trimmer It is a single string and goes through whole spools three orfour times per use. I have had to replace the spool three times already because they split apart. I finally gave up and bought another brand.
Date published: 2016-08-24
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very good choice The unit was easily assembled and ready to work although the cor became stuck a few time no doubt due to poor installation. Otherwise everything was fine.
