I was looking for a unit that you could plug into an existing outlet to charge it up. How long does it hold a charge?

Answer:
Question makes no sense to me. This is not a charger - it is a changer, changing 12 volt DC battery power into 110 volt AC house current to run small electrical items, such as xmas lights or a drill.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by no good Not sure exactly when i picked this up but i have had it for a long time 3 years or so but i never really used it more then once or twice to power a blower on my wood stove for which it worked fine. however i was doing some trim molding and didnt have an extention cord long enough to reach an outlet so i said ill try my inverter it worked for almost the entire job small miter saw i knew i was perhaps pushing its ability but i figured it says its good for powering tools and it seemed to be handiling the load ok anyway almost done and all the sudden it stopped working and because you cant really replace the fuses that are inside 3/30 amp auto fuses soldered in place its on the way to the dump to bad they couldn't make those fuses changeable May 4, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Thow away design Could have been a great little inverter except for the non-replaceable 3x30amp automotive fuses soldered into the circuit board. For the lack of a 5 cent fuse holder, B&D produces another throw away product - I guess in hopes that you will buy another when it blows a fuse. Oh where are the craftsmen that use to make/design lasting, quality products? December 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product - if you read the manual first ... Just bought this inverter, and it works just fine. Some of the complaints about it are addressed in the manual, such as the voltage reading artificially low (20-30 volts) on a standard voltmeter due to the fact it's using modified sine wave tech. That doesn't mean it's not putting out 115V AC, it is putting that out just fine based upon how everything I've plugged into it works well. It also notes that older tv and radio equipment may be noisy when plugged into the unit - so, that's not necessarily a defect of this product if your stuff's old. I am quite happy with this unit, and you will be as well if you note the above. February 18, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Garbage... - My laptop won't charge from it... - My line-interactive UPS won't accept power from it... - My LCD TV buzzes like crazy when running from it... Basically worthless for my purposes... On top of this, the AC plugs feel very cheap, they wiggle when you try to plug something in, and it's very hard to get the plug in, feels like it catches... you get very scary sounding electrical POP noises when plugging in anything as well. I know it's modified sine wave, so you can't expect the world, but my other $40 100W inverter does much better, like night and day. I will be returning this. August 26, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Piece of JUNK Have used inverters for the last 20 years and wear them out in use everyday. These units last 1 - 2x . The fuses are not replaceable. JUNK December 1, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This product was a waste of money!!! I picked up this 800 watt Black & Decker at my local Home Depot, for 79.99. I was in need of a power inverter to run ten 2.7 watt LED Christmas lights for a parade. I decided to purchase this 800 watt unit to keep around my truck in case a need for power ever arose? To make a long story short, I plugged in a 40 watt hot glue gun into the inverter and just as I started laying down a bead of glue, this inverter died!!! This black & decker power inverter was a piece of junk!!! I've only had it for an hour and will return tomorrow! Don't buy this inverter. November 19, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exceeded expectations I bought this for Sanday to power a utility pump, but we didn't have problems with water with Sandy, just wind in our area. Was able to power my refrigerator (6.5 amp) and 3 chargers. I calculate I was using more than 900 watts and it worked without a problem. Handled the ref startups ,which supposedly draw 3x or more than running power, without a problem too. Did not keep the ref on all the time so I started the ref about 5 or 6 times total over 5 days, and it reliably started each time. November 3, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ok - so is it an inverter or a converter?? I bought this inverter from HD a couple weeks ago, and I have yet to use it. But after I got it home, I was reading the front of the box, and on the front left side of the box, I was amused to find the following: "POWERS APPLIANCES, TOOLS & ELECTRONICS USING VEHICLE'S BATTERY converts 12V DC to 115V DC" That would mean it's a DC-to-DC converter - NOT a DC-to-AC inverter... I'm sure it's just a typo error by the packaging supplier, but who's doing B&D's copy editing?? August 25, 2012
