Answer:
I would say NO as butane and propane have different connection types and aren't compatible. This is made for propane applications as butane connects differently.

Answer:
Yes but I had issues with propane not being hot enough. I got a mapp gas torch and it gets much hotter. But if it works for you then stick with it or if more heat needed get a mapp gas torch and mapp gas.But many use propane like this with no issues.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Value, Easy to use I used this propane cylinder and related accessories to melt crack filler into my driveway. It is small and light enough to easily maneuver around. I ran it for about 45 minutes straight and did not experience any change in performance and I still have propane left over. I used the self igniting torch head and extension hose which in my opinion are both necessary components to be able to tackle any project. August 8, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Propane cylinder came in handy in a pinch With the recent power outage due to Storm Alfred, finding these propane cylinders at Home Depot was a life saver. We used it to cook on our Coleman Stove. Propane was in great demand and to be found nowhere else. There seems to be no significant difference between Coleman or Worthington propane grades. Both cylinders give warnings on their use and potential Carbon Monoxide poisoning. The propane may be of a lesser quality however. The flame was not always consistently of blue color like with the Coleman grade fuel; this suggests others gasses or impurities in the Worthington fuel. Nonetheless, it worked fine!! November 8, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wicked easy For the time it took me to search this item on the "Home Depot" app (which was real easy to do) to the really low price i surely recommend this. February 27, 2015
