Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GoSFGiants This is a real sturdy toilet seat for big people
I am a really big guy, my son recommended this product, I really doubted that it would work, I thought it was going to be wobbly and unstable in general (for example you will need to stay completely centered and not move while seating).
It is not at all, once installed it stays in place, you can move around and it just feels so good!
I love it.
It is worth its price.

I ordered this online for my wife's bathroom. When we received it we were a little surprised at how large the seat is. It almost dwarfs the toilet, however if you want something well made and sturdy this is what you need. We also installed grommets we got from Amazon that helps hold the hinge to the toilet firmer. Was also surprised at the high price of these seats. But don't get me wrong, they are good seats.

This product was shipped on time, packaged for no breakage in shipping. Unfortunately, would not work in our application. When installed, lid would not stay open. We determined the seat was too thick for our new Kohler toilet. We had to return it. We did, however, order a different Big John seat with hopes of working.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RLS209 Thanks, Big John!!!
Excellent product and that's an understatement! The situation I faced was a (somewhat heavy) family member with arthritis in the knees and increasing difficulty standing up. A taller toilet was asked for and needed but the extra inch or two (over the standard 16-1/2" floor to rim of the existing model) would cost $200 - $400+ to replace the 4-year-old Kohler (if I did the installation). A taller seat seemed the logical solution and a little research gave me the Big John... the perfect product for the problem! We opted for the "original" 2-1/2" high model and ordered it through Home Depot (with free shipping to the house, arrival in 5 business days from Atlantic side to Pacific). This seat is rock-solid sturdy and this model is rated for up to 1200 pounds with stainless steel mounting hardware!! Installation was simple, even with the larger size and weight. The large rubbery pads that contact the toilet rim provide solid, non-shift support for even a very heavy family member. Also, our bathroom is tiny, with the standard round toilet situated between a cabinet/sink and sliding shower door so I measured carefully before deciding- the Big John is quite a bit larger but fits in nicely (sideways and forward) with no problems. It took a short time to get used to the larger size but it has been a fantastic help for my family member and more than worth every penny. As it happens, the original seat broke a couple days before I ordered this... I patched it and consider the $25-$40+ that would have otherwise been wasted on a standard (and, under the circumstances, inferior) replacement as being an investment in what will likely be the last toilet seat we'll ever need. Highly recommended for anyone who needs a heavy-duty toilet seat with a little extra height.
NOTES: This fits elongated AND round toilets. Check the dimensions to be sure it fits in the space you've got. When raised, the seat is wider, of course, so check that the raised seat won't contact the tank handle (my Kohler has a curved tank so the handle sits well out of the way). Also, the original (broken) Kohler seat had "quiet-close" hinges so the seat wouldn't "slam" when opened or closed but the Big John hinges are standard/free-moving... no harm or problem but we had to re-learn using care when opening or closing the seat to avoid the jarring SLAM! The only issue is that cleaning underneath is somewhat more involved due to ,what I'd call, "ribs and valleys" that reduce mass and weight in the molded plastic without compromising strength. A foaming disinfectant bathroom cleaner, small cleaning brush to get in the crevices if needed, and a recycled pump-spray bottle with water for rinsing works for me.

this item worked well for its purpose.... you should make it available in stores.... but it is a niche item...so thats why you dont show it in stores.... but atleast offer a picture of it in stores so that people who are handicapped know there is something that is available to them.

At 650 lbs., I regularly go through several toilet seats per year due to weak construction. This seat has lasted over a year with no problems. It really feels comfortable and makes my time on the toilet pleasurable.
