Customer Questions & Answers

Can I glue Bird Be Gone Bird Spikes on top of a metal chimney cap?

The spikes available in the store have a polycarbonate base. Is there a restriction from using them on hot surfaces such as a chimney cap?
Asked by: JB
That would depend on how hot that metal cap gets. I'd be afraid that if it got too hot it would melt the polycarbonate base and the adhesive attaching the spikes.

What is the likelihood that if I install bird spikes on my roof line that I'll get leaks?

I have a problem with birds gathering on my roof. Someone has recommended having bird spikes installed. The roofer who installed my roof is leary of doing so, saying that I may get leaks as a result, and he wouldn't be responsible for them. How concerned should I be? Thanks.
Asked by: Rehoboth
What is your roof made of? It would work well on a tiled roof using a construction adhesive to attach the spikes.

Enviro Spike 10 ft. x 5 in. Stainless Steel Bird Spikes is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 41.

When I would get up on the roof, they would run back & forth under my solar panels & finally go out over them regardless if they poked them. I finally screwed them down over the caulk & they are just hanging out on top.

At first it did seem to keep the pigeons from roosting, added more spikes where needed & crossed my fingers. These birds are determined & these spikes just don't have what it takes to keep them from pushing through the spikes & roosting anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effecient, Effective, Easy to Install These bird spikes are the answer to birds landing on our surveillance cameras. The strips are easy to trim to size. They are lightweight so they don't add additional weight to the cameras. Zip-ties securely fasten the strips to the camera. As chance has it, a dove tried to land on the camera I had installed this spike strip on shortly after installation. It worked perfectly. the dove made several attempts unsuccessfully. Fantastic product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crazy Robins We bought a box of the spikes last spring as we have had Robins flying up into our foyer window pecking at the window all day long. Decided to try the spikes and they really do work ! They came back this year and tried for the window but got caught in the spikes, haven't had any since. We have used the same spikes from last year and we just use clear silicone to apply them to our bricks ( easy to remove) and then remove them in late summer.

The pigeons are (mostly) gone. I still see one or two once in a while. They are off my house and living elsewhere. Sometimes they fly by and drop twigs and things near me, these are so good, I think they hate me.

I had a night bird that was nesting under one of my eaves and pooping all over the deck. This fixed the problem and is almost invisible. Only issue is I only needed a few sections. Wish I didn't have to purchase a whole box.

Purchased these spikes to prevent dove nesting on an 8ft wide roll down patio shade. I used a construction adhesive to attach the enviro-spikes to the top of the shade. Very easy to work with. The spikes stopped the doves completely!
