Customer Questions & Answers

How do you adjust the water pressure?

It's only a year old. The water pressure has always been low and I have Hot water on Demand. I can never get any hot water unless I turn it on in the kitchen and then run into the Powder Rm. After about a minute it turns back to cold. I know that you turn the valve from left to right. However, my valve which is pointed up will not budge. I even had a man who is very strong try. He tried turning the valve with ALL his might and it would not because. Finally we gave up before it broke and we had water all over the place. Any suggestions?

Hi MommaKat. Thank you for your question. This type of valve should not be hard to turn. It sounds like it may have frozen. This could be a result of calcium buildup around the gate portion of the valve. For a lack of water pressure, this may be a piping problem. If you have the older galvanized pipes, they can eventually clog up with the same calcium/mineral buildup. As the minerals build up in the pipe, the opening gets smaller and smaller. It may be time to think about re-piping your hose in copper. I had this done many years ago and it really makes a very big difference in your water pressure. If you already have copper pipes in your house, check your water pressure on the outside bib closest to your main water valve. Also check to be sure your main valve has not been closed partially. It may be necessary in install a water pressure booster in your home along with some low-flow shower heads. Here is a link that may help you with your low water pressure. It may require a little detective work on your part and also have your system checked for any leaks that may cause the pressure loss. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC
