Answer:
A Ready-Start engine is equipped with a temperature controlled automatic choke. On these engines there is not a primer or choke, it is simply pull for power.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Runs like a Bag of Spanners We bought a Hayter Lawnmower last October brand new which has this S & B engine in. We have religiously followed the manufacturers servicing etc. Done everything by the book. But after it's winter service and and a couple of uses it has spent more time back at the retailer whom we bought it from. Each time saying they could not find a problem with it, each time we have used it we have taken it back again as it runs like its not running on all all cylinders and it only has ONE !! I would never buy another new mower again and would stay clear of one with a B & S engine in it. Will keep you updated as the Lawnmower is still with the retailer. It wasn't a cheap mower either. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dont start As others noted there is a problem with this motor attach to Ariens mower or any other I work for a bit box retailer that sells these and no more I got permission to send them back by my manager I'm tired of all the complaints after one year will not start [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] August 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So the mower starts and runs great but when I let the clutch lever off the mower still runs any ideas March 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Troy Push Lawnmower with B&S 675ex series engine How long has it been? I guess I've used this mower 6 years. I'm embarrassed to say how much I've neglected the maintenance. Have never changed the oil yet ( still looks clear and new ), never changed the spark plug. All I've done was add oil occasionally and gasoline. This is the best mower engine I have ever had. It starts first pull every time, remarkable - compared to other mower's I've owned. After storage in woodshed all winter, it starts on the first pull, - even with old gas still in the tank from the previous year. All my neighbors have borrowed my mower when their engines wouldn't start for any of various reasons. I should be a B&S sales person, because these engines are fantastic. May 13, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I had it for only a year! This season I pulled out my lawn mower and it did not start as usual. I never had problem before I stored it away. I drained out the oil and gas before I put it away for the season. I searching through the internet for answers...carburetor, spark plugs, etc. In the end it was just a dirty spark plug. After cleaned it out with carb cleaner, it started on the first try. It chugging a bit and stopped after tall grass but after that it was smooth sailing. I thought I would share my story for anyone searching for answers. May 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Buy American product. I purchased a new Husqvarna mower with this engine. Everything was great for the 2 times that I used the mower. I hit a rock and the engine cracked. I have had several mowers in my life and have never had an engine cracked, even when I deliberately ran one without oil. I tried to get it repaired or replaced but it was not covered. well don't worry I will use the Honda engine from my old mower. Last time I will buy anything with Briggs engine. July 24, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cannot handle load Bought a new Echo Bearcat trimmer mower with this engine and didn't get one hour of use. Sure it is easy to start but cannot handle load and blows blue smoke as it bogs down. Put it out to pasture until I can get a real engine to do the job. September 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Old Faithful I got my mower second-hand from my mother after she sold her house. This engine is awesome. Cranks first pull every time. I guess my mother used it for 3-4 years before I got it in 2011. After 3-4 years of use, I haven't even changed the oil, just cleaned the air filter and put gas in it. Works like a champ. Very reliable. May 9, 2015
