Customer Questions & Answers

what is the difference between the quantum and the quantum ready engine

Asked by: the1sundowner
A Ready-Start engine is equipped with a temperature controlled automatic choke. On these engines there is not a primer or choke, it is simply pull for power.

675 Series Quantum Gas Engine is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from * * * * Starts easy and runs strong. Starts each spring with 1 pull. however first summer with very few hours on it it just quit. it would not start. Took it in for repairs, which were covered under warranty, and the PLASTIC cam shaft broke!!!!! who makes a camshaft out of plastic???? The replace ment was still plastic but different material. the machine has run for 3 years now no problems. hopefully B/S has changed the material on this part.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Runs like a Bag of Spanners We bought a Hayter Lawnmower last October brand new which has this S & B engine in. We have religiously followed the manufacturers servicing etc. Done everything by the book. But after it's winter service and and a couple of uses it has spent more time back at the retailer whom we bought it from. Each time saying they could not find a problem with it, each time we have used it we have taken it back again as it runs like its not running on all all cylinders and it only has ONE !! I would never buy another new mower again and would stay clear of one with a B & S engine in it. Will keep you updated as the Lawnmower is still with the retailer. It wasn't a cheap mower either.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy American product. I purchased a new Husqvarna mower with this engine. Everything was great for the 2 times that I used the mower. I hit a rock and the engine cracked. I have had several mowers in my life and have never had an engine cracked, even when I deliberately ran one without oil. I tried to get it repaired or replaced but it was not covered. well don't worry I will use the Honda engine from my old mower. Last time I will buy anything with Briggs engine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't stay running I upgraded to a 6.75 so I would have more power on my log splitter to run the hydraulics, but when head into the log it quits it is very frustrating to have to keep starting it, even with easy splitting logs. It is not a cheap motor to replace I think it should be better for the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dont start As others noted there is a problem with this motor attach to Ariens mower or any other I work for a bit box retailer that sells these and no more I got permission to send them back by my manager I'm tired of all the complaints after one year will not start [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from automatic choke *ez start* Bought this mower 120 days ago, so I am not even able to return it to the store (has a 90 day return policy) I bought it from. The ez automatic choke start keeps flooding the engine so that it won't start. Did all of the trouble shooting recommended in the manual, to no avail. Will say that when it did start it mowed fine. I would NOT recommend this mower to anyone. For the price that I paid, I should have a mower that starts easily and reliably for more than 120 days. Garbage, very disappointed with B&S.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Right for A Push Mower This engine has plenty of power and torque to get the job done mulching, side-discharge or bagging. It have owned this engine on a Snapper mower for 2 years and it does not bog down ever! Easy starting, no worry engine with no ethanol fuel and stabilizer.
