It has a 6" outlet if I remember correctly, but I simply purchased a reducer from Home Depot and used 4" metal dryer vent ducting.

Thank you for your interest in our product.
This fan is designed to be used with a 6" duct. Any deviation from that may result in reduced air flow and efficiency.

Answer:
The intake grill is very large so the velocity at the inlet is very low with this low capacity fan (80 cfm). You will get a better sense of the flow rate if you feel the flow at the discharge.

Thanks for your question. You should be able to feel something! If you hold a tissue up to the fan, does it get sucked up towards the grille? If not, please contact our Technical Support Department at 888-336-6151. Thanks, again.

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 41 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Price - Nice & Quiet Fan I purchased this fan to change out for a cheaper and noisier model. It was larger than my old ceiling vent fan but I knew that when I ordere. Had to go into attic to change it, I also knew that was going to be part of the process. Knowing that, I thought the installation was relatively easy. The is barely audible and moves much more air than my old and noisy 50 cfm model. June 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet and Efficient Unlike "standard" exhaust fans, I can barely hear this one running and it is quite good at removing steam from the shower. The mirrors don't even get a chance to fog up. Well worth its price, IMHO. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very quiet fan No instructions for an existing installation, but was easy enough. I plumbed with 6" duct to the gable and used a 4" exterior vent. Fan runs with very little noise, a quiet hum that you can hear, but it is not loud enough to be annoying. I'm very satisfied. May 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product at a reasonable price I cannot comment on the installation as I had someone else install the fans, but they are extremely quiet and efficient. You can barely hear them running and they do an excellent job of removing the humidity from the bathrooms. There is no longer ANY fogging on the mirrors when taking long showers. I am very satisfied with the quality and value. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone wanting to upgrade to a quieter/more efficient exhaust fan. April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holy cow these fans are awesome I've been noticing some moldy little spots on the ceiling lately so I decided that I needed to replace the exhaust fan. I finally got to use my shower after the installation of this fan. It is whisper quiet. So quiet you might think the fan is not working. That is--until you step out of a long hot shower and there is not even a wisp of fog on the mirror over the sink. Worth every penny and more. Best bathroom upgrade ever. April 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Unfortunately... the fan was too large and didn't fit. Even though we ordered the fan according to the numbers on the inside of the old fan, we didn't get the right one. But we won't hesitate to return this and ask for help to reorder. The fan arrived fast and in perfect condition. April 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice reasonable quiet fan This product is a basic fan only. No light or humidity sensor. Ordered online from Home Depot and picked up at the store (great customer service during pick-up) It's a lot quieter than my old ones. I like that I can still hear it when it's on, but I can hear people talk in their normal voice without yelling. Also, I won't forget to turn it off. I believe it's Energy-Star rated. I had an electrician install / replace my old ones (just installed a week ago). If you are replacing an old fan, you may have to cut out the ceiling / move the ceiling opening to fit the new fan housing. Then the ceiling needs to be resealed and painted. April 2, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Burned out after 4 years Worked great and was whisper silent initially but after a few years it slowly started moving less air and now it spins so slowly that it doesn't remove steam at all. Out of warranty by a year, so Broan gave me the shoulder shrug. April 14, 2016
