While many smokers have just enough power to dry jerky, the Smoke Vault 18 in. and 24 in. creates a wide range of usable heat that can be used for smoking ribs, fish and turkeys as well as baking pies and breads. The Camp Chef Smoke Vault 18 in. infuses that great smoked flavor to your favorite cut of meat. An 18,000 BTUs burner, fully adjustable heat-control dials and a built in temperature gauge help you reach your desired temperatures whether you are smoking ribs, fish, poultry or beef. You can also bake pies and breads in a Smoke Vault. Two adjustable racks and a jerky smoking rack allow you space to smoke to your liking. A heavy-gauge wood chip tray and a water pan will instill a Smokey flavor and keep the meat moist. Three damper valves help control internal temperatures and smokiness. will a turkey fit in this size smoker

Yes, but it depends on the size of your turkey. There is an add-on item called the Turkey Cannon Infusion Roaster that helps cook a turkey in half the time. It also positions the turkey at an angle giving the smoker additional cooking space.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'm new to smoking and this is my first smoker. The materials used on this smoker is durable. The... I'm new to smoking and this is my first smoker. The materials used on this smoker is durable. The door is brushed stainless steel with a spot welded bar to keep it from warping due to intense heat. The door latch secures tightly against the frame and stays cool due to rubberized cover. The thermometer built into the door is rated up to 500 degrees. The smoker chassis is heavy gauge steel with powder coat, and heat resistant black paint inside and out. It comes with a heavy gauge removable drip pan allowing for easy cleaning. It also comes with 2 heavy gauge chrome grates including 1 for jerky. The shelves that hold the grates in place are made of the same heavy gauge chrome steel. There are three vents that allow to regulate heat and exhaust. The single large burner is made of aluminum alloy. It is powerful enough to sustain 250 degrees in medium setting. It comes with a match-free instant start feature. The propane hose is long enough keeping the propane tank at a safe distance. The temperature dial is large and easy to read. The whole chassis is elevated from the ground by four solid legs. This allows for proper airflow and keeps the burner from touching the ground. Although close to being a perfect smoker, it has a few flaws. 1. Even though the door is held firmly in place by the locking lever, smoke sneaks out of all the door seams. Perhaps, applying a bead of heat resistant silicone will keep the smoke in. 2. The door gets hot to the touch. A thermal shield might help prevent accidental contacts and burned skin. 3. Dual doors would be great allowing access to the water pan, and wood tray without letting the heat out. This also prevents dangerous steam that could burn your face from getting out and causing harm. 4. The door thermometer is 10 degress off compared to a digital version with dual probe. 5. The temperature dial has a rotational gap that allows for inaccurate gas flow. Listening for the variance on "burner's hiss" is a more accurate regulator. Overall functional value of the smoker is worth the investment. The 18 inch model will serve a family of six rather easily. The 24 inch version can smoke full size slabs of ribs. But why spend for a larger unit if the 18 inch will do just fine. Just slice your ribs in half or get smaller cuts of meat. There is plenty of room for 2 chickens in one grate and can easily smoke 8 half slabs of baby back ribs. I'm very happy with my purchase from Home Depot which handled my transaction online flawlessly. My smoker arrived earlier than expected.

Seasoning was a breeze and went right into smoking a whole beer can chicken using beercan holder with out the beer can placed beer and water in the water tray with some onion at 275 door thermometer is not accurate use a good meat thermometer one hour and it was yummy also made Italian and some cheery and mesquite chunks best whole chicken ever

This is the third smoker I have owned, the first two were charcoal units. The smoker is very well made and was easy to assemble. Smoked a 8lb pork butt for pulled pork, took about 12hrs to cook using low heat, pork was tender and moist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for cold weather climates I researched smokers for several months and this was definitely the right choice for living in upstate NY. This smoker has the capability to get hot enough in cold weather. A lesson I learned while smoking a turkey last Thanksgiving when it was in the 20's and my electric smoker could only get up to 175. The heat adjustment is sensitive but manageable. The only thing I wish it had was more shelves out of the box. However, you can buy them separately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I have been looking at different smokers for about a year, and since I am a beginner I decided to go with propane fired for ease of use. This smoker has recieved high ratings from numerous sites I visited, and when I caught it on sale at HD it was a done deal. I had the day off when this baby arrived and I was giddy like a little boy as I tore open the box and began the setup. The setup was fairly easy and took approximately 30-45 minutes. After seasoning my smoker I couldn't wait to use it the first time. I have only owned this thing for 30 days and have put it to good use, we have done lake trout, jerky, whole chickens, pork butt, and ribs. One of two negatives I have so far is when I did the ribs, the cabinet is not quite wide enough to fit a whole rack of baby backs so I had to cut them in half, which is not a huge deal since we won't be doing ribs all that often. I could not believe how easy it was to control the temperature on this thing, once the smoker and water pan are up to temp it holds steady and you may have to slightly adjust a vent every now and again. The second negative is with the temp gauge in the door, mine is off by about 25 degrees, again not a big deal because I have never been a fan of door gauges and made the investment in a dual probe digital thermometer so I can monitor smoker temp and meat temp simultaneously. I would highly recommend this smoker to anyone who is looking for a quality product that produces consistent results. Don't pass this one up, especially if you happen to catch it on sale!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Smoker I did A LOT of research before I purchased this smoker! The Achilles heel of the electric smokers seems to be the element, so I decided to bypass that completely and go with the propane burner which, in my experience, very rarely break or have problems. Another weakness of the electrics is getting them hot enough in the winter. When the burner on this thing is cranked, even on a cold day, I can easily get it to 400 degrees, not that many smoking situations call for that! It seems to be very well insulated. However, if the wind is blowing fairly hard (as it does in Oregon in December) it can play havoc with keeping the temps stable. Be prepared to build some kind of windbreak to keep the flame from being blown around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Camp Chef 18" propane smoker Easy to assemble, takes about 30 min. I have used this smoker several times now with great success, it works in wind and cold conditions. 18" is large enough for a turkey. I was concerned about propane usage, so far that has been a non-issue, But result can obviously be quite different depending on temp and cook times. Temperature control is a breeze and stable. I have used electric and charcoal smokers for years and will never go back to them after using this propane smoker. Happy Smoking!
