Hi Don, unfortunately this product is charcoal only. However there are grill models that have charcoal on one side and propane fuel on the other. Model number 463724512, Home Depot internet number 203736363.

Answer:
Yes, it works quite well for that purpose, as well as for slow cooking, due to its size. Charcoal/wood chips can be set on one side of the charcoal frame, and the item to be smoked place so its not over the fire. With the lid closed a constant low enough temp can be maintained for several hous

Hi Dnspumoni, good question. I reached out to Char-Broil as it is not listed in the manual. Char-Broil does not publish this information.
I did find out that you need a 53 inch grill cover. There are several models, made out of several types of material. Check them out on the website as the covers have a wide range of prices.

Answer:
When the side shelves are folded on this Char-Broil Charcal Grill the width measures just below 40". For this grill I would recommend our Heavy Duty Smoker Cover. Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 54 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by love this item must admit you do need 2 people to put this item together. I started it and got lost trying to put in the grill pan. so I called home depot and found out if you bought a grill thru them they will put it together for you.... what a holiday saver. have used it nearly every day since labor day and it is a wonderful grill adding the charcoal with the adjustable pan makes it so good the temperature gage makes cooking that much easier. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for the price, but could be better Build quality is good, but not fantastic. As others have noted, the latch on the front isn't the sturdiest thing they could have come up with, but it has worked so far for me. My real complaint is that the charcoal pan doesn't allow enough air to flow up from under the charcoal. My charcoal kept going out 2/3 of the way through cooking until i cut the bottom out of the pan and replaced it with expanded sheet metal; works great now. My dad's older (and admittedly nicer) Char-Broil uses grates similar to the cooking grates for the charcoal pan and does not suffer from this problem. June 11, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This charcoal grill seemed like a good buy, but... The many features were just what we wanted, but it got here all dented. Once assembled, it was too bent for the lid to come down straight on the main body of the grill. June 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this grill!! I bought this grill 2-3 years ago. It was tricky to assemble but if you follow the directions (a hard thing for us guys to do), you'll end up with an excellent grill. I don't understand the negatives comments as my experience is completely opposite but then I take care of mine and keep it covered when not in use. I haven't had any issues with it. Absolutely my favorite grill that I have owned. I strongly recommend a good quality cover to keep the rain out, otherwise water will accumulate in the bottom tray which could cause the pan to rust over time. July 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use, This was purchased by building management at our senior residents housing. Cooking hamburgers and hot dogs cooked fast. The charcoal tray was strong and supprted the coals at all levels. Cleaning of grates was easy. July 4, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Metal Torn in Half This item was ordered online for my birthday. Opened the Box, and a couple parts (Top lid, bottom square bracket) were almost fully ripped in half. Returned to store, store was very helpful, but could only put money back on credit card as they did not have one in stock. I like the style of this BBQ being able to adjust coals up and down while cooking. Just hope I can find a better product, or if I re-order actually get a item not ripped apart. A Fair rating as I gave this same style BBQ to my Father and he enjoys it. Home Depot customer service was very nice, just wish they could of re-ordered the product for me at the store. Instead of having to credit the credit card then order online again. August 29, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst investment ever by far! I received my “Deluxe” Charcoal Box Grill yesterday, and was very enthusiastic to open it today for a Sunday family day. It really spoiled the day when I opened it and found the terrible conditions of the product I bought. Metal was RUSTY and the worst of it was that many parts, main parts of the product were CRACKED. Would not recommend it at all!!!! April 3, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible quality I received this grill as a wedding present. When I received it, it was pretty beat up in a couple of spots - and already rusted in some areas. It was frustrating from the get go because some of the spots where the metal was bent, were crucial spots - IE air can escape from them. I've used this grill many times. Do not expect to keep any type of temperatures with this thing. I can close off all the dampeners and the coals still burn. This makes zero sense. Without being able to control the air flow, you cannot control the temperatures. I do not recommend this grill. This is the only Charbroil I've ever had, and it will be my last. If I had any documentation on the gift for a return, I would certainly do so. May 29, 2014
