Answer:
The few flaws in their design show up here. Unless everything lines up just perfect. The shelves pop out. They should make a clip that snaps into the rails and locks the shelf. A simple fix is take a tie wrap and put it around the edge of the shelf and the tabs so that they can no longer work their way backwards. It is a very sturdy system and I like it beyond a couple of bad design ideas.

Answer:
Maybe you have a defective bracket...are they positioned in the end of the shelf? Do you have the Closet Maid shelving? My experience has been that all 12 of mine fully snapped into position and don't move unless I intentionally moved them.

Answer:
When you find where you want to place it on your shelf slide the bracket up into a wire slot. Secure the back of the bracket first and then gently pull down to lock the front of the bracket in place. Make sure you are using the correct type of shelf.

There may be a difference in brands of shelving. These work with the white wire shelving. Other brands may have a slightly different wire size and/or spacing.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 29 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty good design Nicely designed closet rod support lets hangers slide past it. The nexk of the hanger must be not be too short. For example skirt hangers and most of my sturdy metal hangers wouldn't slide past it. Nearly all of my plastic hangers had no issues. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed and reasonably priced Just what I needed to replace some brackets that were broken. Questionable if these will not break over time. May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Serves purpose As noted, this rod support bracket will break, usually after years of overloaded service. Replacing one is cheap, and quick. Not noted by reviewers is that if you overload the system, as most of us probably do, you can add more of these brackets along the rod--you do not have to pair them with a shelf support bracket (the one that goes to the wall). If you really like to load the shelves and rods, then either install wall and rod brackets every two feet (2'), add additional supports in an existing installation, or look for a more expensive solution. This product is a nice balance of price/performance/ease of installation. With reasonable expectations, you will be pleased. October 14, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 10's before failure I have had these for about ten years. For no real reason the top lip had broken on one and before we could get all of the weight off of the rest others failed too. For them to be this brittle after ten years is poor engineering. To not used these. January 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent I was in a bind to get this part and only home depot had it. Ordered online and pick up at the store next day perfect. December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by support bracket exactly what I was expecting. reliable and durable December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by They do their job The bracket does its job. We have a good deal of clothing in our closet, two bars one up high and one in the middle, so we used an extra bracket on each. November 3, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by hook/support for shelfs The plastic hooks were easy to install. The only caution is to use more of them than recommended if you hang a lot of clothes on the rods that the hooks support. They have a thin attachment ( maybe the manufacurer will thicken this in the future) on one end of the hook and will break under the weight of a full rack of clothes. Use 3 hooks for every two that the manufacturer recommends. Other than this, I find the system very useful. March 25, 2015
