I had to replace a kitchen faucet and wanted some help with shedding light on things. This worked great! First off, I was surprised how comfortable it was on my head. Even forgot I was wearing when done. This has a lot of adjustments on it. You can focus the beam of light to be broad or more pin-point by turning the lens. You can adjust the light intensity on the back with a little lever. The light also swivels on it base so it can be directed and angled as needed. This sure made my faucet replacement a lot easier.

I would recommend HL7 Focusing LED headlamp. This lamp will work great for work or play. I used it to ride my bike through dark tunnels, it worked perfect. You can have as little or as much light as you need, with just the movement of the switch located above the light. Handy strap to fit over your head or over a hat. LED bright light, 285 Lumens Bright. Weather proof so great for any conditions outside. 3 AAA batteries are included. Use it right out of the package. I like Coast products, they make quality lights and have a great lifetime warranty. The Bulls-Eye Spot Beam shines up to 390 feet. The Ultra View Flood Beam shines up to 6 feet. Change the beam with the twist focus control, simple right on the light. Makes any hands free work or fun easy.

Coast HL7 Focusing Led Headlamp
So this headlamp is very bright 285 Lumens that goes from low to high 4 lumens to 285. It really doesn't focus but adjust the power to the bulb making the beam go from low to high in intensity.
The beam radius doesn't change except for the intensity. I was hoping this would go from a large wide beam to a small pin point beam.
It has a conformable headband that can be clipped to a hard hat . I am able to clip it to a baseball style hat too. The light is bright and even though the focus isn't what I expected it's does provide the ability to adjust the intensity by a lever instead of by pressing a button.
It is powered by 3 AAA batteries included and advertises 70 hour battery life at 4 Lumens and 1.5 hours at the maximum 285 Lumens. At 4 Lumens it needs to be real dark in order for it to be useful light. At the highest setting it's very bright even with ambient light.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Termie Heavy-duty headlamp for extreme conditions
I've used a number of headlamps, designed both for adventure use and work use, and this model from Coast is definitely a high-end offering. Here's what I liked about the HL7:
(1) more controls than I've ever seen in a headlamp: on/off that returns to last-used setting, fully-adjustable dimming, lens focus, and lens up/down tilt.
(2) fully waterproof
(3) ultra-bright 285-lumen bulb
(4) 70-hour runtime on three AAA batteries (included)
Here's what I wasn't as impressed at during several hours of use while doing electrical work around the house:
(1) the on/off switch is really hard to operate, in part due to waterproof rubber housing, but also due to stiffness
(2) it's really heavy - despite having three AAA batteries like my other headlamps, it's 50% heavier at 4.6oz. Most of that weight is in the back, where the battery pack resides, so at least it doesn't slip down your forehead. That being said, the battery pack seems a bit "over-reinforced" to me, and you really feel like you're wearing a rectangular box on the back of your head, since it's not contoured at all.
(3) the back-mounted battery back precludes use of this lamp where you're working on your back, such as when doing plumbing work under a sink.
(4) with the wiring running around the periphery of the headband from front to back, the whole thing feels a little clunky.
Overall, I like what Coast tried to do with this headlamp, providing a full-featured, ultra-bright headlamp that's as rugged as possible. But all that comes at the price of weight and ease of use. I'd recommend this to anyone working in wet conditions or where the extra power and adjustability is critical. For typical around-the-house or outdoor use, I think it's too heavy and bulky.

This HL7 focusing led headlamp was very handy while working in the attic. Not only can you adjust the beam, but you can also adjust the intensity of the light by moving the switch on the battery pack. Great for not blinding yourself with an overly bright light when you don't need it in a small space. The head of the light can also be tilted to help aim the light where you want it.

Coast HL7 Focusing LED headlamp is very Bright, with 231 Lumens. I had reservations about the battery pack being in the back, but once on your head you can barely tell it's on. The Spot Beam focus on the headlamp is very easy to adjust and the brightness adjustment on the battery pack is just as easy. It will be Great for Hunting as well as working under Cabinets for Plumbing repairs or Sink installment. A Very Unique Warranty from Coast, the Life of the Purchaser.

Have a Coast headlamp I've been using a lot for the past several years, and it's been a faithful servant during my many projects. Saw this focusing HL7 model, and had to try it out. One word. Wow.
I like this latest Coast offering for several reasons-- like its predecessors, this LED lamp really puts out the brightness necessary when working in dark quarters, like under the sink.
Secondly, I'm starting to appreciate how, by rotating the rubber rim of the lamp, you can adjust the lighting to cover a wider area, then narrow down its focus to a specific spot-- very handy, when working on things like electrical wiring, where you want to see both the overall picture as well as a particular spot you plan to work on.
And thirdly, the lever on the battery pack allows you to easily change the intensity of the lighting, from almost completely off to bight-as-sunlight intensity. Very nice!
The only drawback I found to this Coast HL7 was the size of the type on the instructions-- 4-point type is way too small for most folks, just sayin.'
I used the clips Coast provided to attach the headlamp to a hardhat, so you could get an idea of how handy & versatile this little light can be. It's a winner!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mamajane1234 Good focusing headlamp
A very high-quality headlamp. Very bright light with very good light color. The dimming lever is behind your head, but seems fairly easy to reach and move. The focus adjuster is a knob around the LED assembly located on your forehead. It is easy to twist and adjust the focus of the light. The narrow spot focus is great but as you expand the focus you go through a point where there is a shadow is the center of the light circle. This takes away from the light crispness at that place of focus.. The unit is a little awkward to wear on a baseball hat. Some might feel that the battery pack on the back of your head with the 3 AAA batteries is a bit heavy. The LED light assembly does rotate up and down to adjust the vertical angle of the light beam. Not waterproof. Battery life is much lower than expected -- 3-4 hours on high beam. Lumen output is 192 lumens, lower than I would have expected. Considering everything however, I believe it is the best headlamp on the market.
