Not sure what lightbulb to use with this. Previously had 65W spotlight in same housing. Is that OK? Or can I use a standard 40W bulb?

Previously had a 65W Spotlight in same housing, but the T11 6" shower recessed light trim says no more than 40W. Can I use the 65 oris a regular 40W bulb OK?

Customer Reviews

6 in. White Recessed Shower Trim (12-Pack) is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Glass way too opaque The fixture is OK, but the glass absorbs at lease 2/3 of the light. I installed this over a bar area, and can hardly see the sink, even with a 100W equivalent CFL. I am replacing the glass with some kind of clear material - possibly cut from a fluorescent cover. This is probably OK for a shower where a person's head is inches from the fixture. Not over a bar. By the way, I hate a bare bulb blasting down from the normal recessed fixture.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from plastic hinges break too easily I have replaced one of the shower trim covers on two occasions in under 6 months. Basically, the plastic hooks, which are connected to the metal break off too easily. I am now on my third one, and if this breaks, I will try switching to a metal trim.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Glass Lens Shattered and Broke Among other things, the lens on this fixture blocks much of the light. But tonight, after playing the stereo loud downstairs, I came upstairs to use the bathroom and noticed broken glass all over the tub. Since I have no glass bottles, and the glass was milk white, I realized it was this fixture. The lens had somehow managed to fall through the trim ring. It may have rattled inside the trim until it shattered and then fell to the tub below. Really surprised that a bit of bass vibration would cause a lens to fail like this. Going to replace it with a LED fixture. The 75W halogen used to overheat when left on for more than ten minutes anyway.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fixture absorbs too much light Quality is fine and installation is easy, but shower is too dark, even with 26W fluorescent light - fixture absorbs too much light. I replaced with a dome light and now get twice as much light with a 13W light.
