Product Overview

The carriage bolt features a smooth, rounded head for appearance, safety and security. The square shank under the head pulls into the material as nuts are tightened, this prevents the bolt from turning. Common applications for this bolt include deck building, fence construction and outdoor furniture.

Customer Questions & Answers

Fixing length

To ask a stupid question, but if I need to bolt 8" of wood, will this work? Or will I need a longer bolt and cut it down? I need to attach a 2 x 6, a 4 x 4 & another 2 x 6 together....

If you countersink the nut end 1/2 inch you'll be be able to get at least 3 threads on the nut. All you need is a 1inch speedbore bit.

Why don't you stock the square holed tabbed washer for the head seat so customers can utilize in wood construction projects?

Asked by: Mike
In typical applications, the square section underneath the domed head seats into the wood without issue with no need for a square hole washer. Since typically you do not need a washer, the demand is not great enough to stock in all stores.
