Customer Questions & Answers

how hard is it to take the tub spout off?

Asked by: bw2014
Ours just screws on to the pipe coming from the wall. Thats not saying that all are like that.

Can't install & instructions refer to a non-existent part

I just bought this spout to install on an existing copper pipe nipple. I can't install it correctly. 1# In step e), when I thread the Extension Nipple C onto Adapter A, after a few turns the Adapter just turns when I turn the Extension Nipple. This makes it impossible to align the hole in C with the slot in A. There is no way to stop A from turning when I turn C. 2) The hole in C #for Screw 3) does not go all the way through the plastic. Is it supposed to? How else would I know if the hole in C is aligned with the slot in A? In frustration, I tried assembling the whole thing off the copper nipple and I STILL can't get the screw to break through the plastic on the Extension Nipple C. The plastic at that point is too thick, even though there is an indentation. 3) Step g) says to "...Tighten Extension Nipple C on to Adapter A until it touches Screw G. However, there IS no "Screw G." The only screw in the kit is Screw E. 4) Finally, on the instructions I can't find a contact phone number to call for assistance.

Universal Diverter Tub Spout in Chrome is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 66.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst connection design ever- more water out the sides than out the spout The instructions were all over the place and it is very difficult to screw the 2 plastic pieces together and make sure that a blind hole lines up. The spout leaked on all three attempts. Friend is a plumber and he put on a much simpler set up which cost only $5 more. The design is flawed.

I needed 4 of these but just bought one to try it out. I was able to install these just fine. One thing instructions doesn't mention is that we need to drill a whole into inner spout holder to fasten the ring and screw. Also, do not twist while installing this otherwise washer will get damaged. I recommend buying a silicone grease as its just easier to install it with the grease.

The 88703 is the MOST terrible design I ever seen. The 88434 will install in under 5 minutes, leak free. The 88703's instructions are terrible, the online instructions are also pretty bad. The online instructions can be found here: https://www.danco.com/product/universal-diverter-tub-spout-in-chrome/ At 6, your're supposed to slide the extension nipple onto the stub out nipple and thread onto the adapter aligning hole in the extension nipple with the slot in the Adapter. Pretty straightforward, however :) The stub out nipple will rotate as well when you try to attach the extension nipple. And then they want you to align it with a hole you can't see because there is none (they tell you to use the screw to create one...), and then you still cant see it because of nipple turns all over the place. This one is going back. Get the 88434 instead!!

The plastic internal portion would not screw into the spout itself despite some very forceful attempts. Don't believe all these reviews? Look at all the packaging for this product at the store, they're all taped shut because everyone (including me) have returned it out of frustration. Home Depot should not be selling this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Confusing at best I have just finished a bathroom remodel and after replacing a 2 bowel sink, faucets, mirror, lights and putting in a tile floor....I was undone by the tub spout. Very confusing installation process. It's going back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product To tight the screw you need a Philips screwdriver and it is a bit difficult on such tight space. A bolt would have been more appropriate.
