Customer Questions & Answers

Can I use SMartbond to bond granite counter tops to wood? Will it leach through the granite? What about quartz?

What should I use instead?

Hello! I am installing OSB over existing OSB and want to use this SMARTBOND SUBFLOOR ADHESIVE instead of LIQUID NAILS.

My question is how much should I use per 4 X 8 sheet of OSB? Is this a proper use of this new SMARTBOND ADHESIVE??
Asked by: James
DAP® SmartBond® Subfloor Gun-Grade Construction Adhesive can be used to bond OSB to OSB. The second layer of OSB should be installed such that all of the joints/seams are staggered. At a minimum, the same gluing and fastener schedule that would be used to install the original layer of OSB should be duplicated when installing the second layer. Be sure to use screws that are long enough to penetrate through both layers of OSB and into the underlying joists for best performance.

Customer Reviews

20 oz. Smartbond Subfloor Gun-Grade Gel Foam Construction Adhesive (6-Pack) is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from not worth it Does not = 8 tubes of 28 oz subfloor glue, maybe 2. I've put down enough subfloors on new homes to know that 18 tubes of glue will do a 1800 sq ft floor. So only 2 1/2 cans of this should do it right? Wrong! 7 cans! Now it is less yes than using 18 of the tubes, but at triple to quadruple the cost, plus the gun cleaner, it is not worth it. It comes out of the can and expands but after 30 seconds or so it shrinks to a 1/8 it's size, so I don't know how it can contact as much material as glue can. Plus it hurts your arm and wrist just as much squeezing the trigger as squeezing the tubes of glue. And if the can gets cold, it does not come out fast at all. Don't waste your money!
