It says it is paintable - does this mean it needs to be sealed before applying latex interior house paint??

Answer:
Actually I tried two areas while waiting for an answer. The one with sealer was great. The one without sealer was very poor and the paint I was using stated that it was designed to paint over spackle.

Answer:
DAP DryDex Spackling does not require primer prior to the application of good quality paints, however, priming prior to the application of paint ensures better paint coverage.

Answer:
DAP DryDex Spackling is designed and recommended for use as a wall repair patch (holes, crack and minor imperfection), however, patched areas do not always have enough strength to support fasteners or weight.

Rated 2.7 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by would not buy this product again. diy guy, this product will not come out of the tube easily. bought at different stores suspecting bad batch but all tubes were the same. too hard to squeeze out. May 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love this product! I see others complain that it is hard to squeeze the product out of the tube. If you have any strength at all, it will not be a problem. If I needed more, I would agree that getting it in the plastic jar would be a good idea but a little went a long way. I have a wooden mail box post that is older and a bit cracked and weathered. I like the consistency of this product, not at all sloppy to apply. Kind of like modeling clay. Goes on pink and dries to white when it's ready to sand or paint! Too cool! Finished off the mailbox with some paint from HD and it looks great. Used a little more to fill the holes left when I had to remove two plastic wall anchors from my concrete block garage walls. Won't even need to paint since it dries white. Super! August 24, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Crimp end was not sealed, made huge mess on carpet. I was filling numerous holes in the wall when I discovered the crimp end split open and oozed lots of compound all over my carpeting. Huge mess, I recommend something else. November 12, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a great product I purchased this to fill some nail holes and some holes from some very small wall anchors. I could not even get the paste to come out of the tube. It had already partially dried inside the tube before I cut off the tip. It is 70 degrees inside my condo, so it isn't an issue of being stored in cold temperatures. I even tried to sit the tube in hot water for an hour to make the paste more pliable. This paste was not workable at all, causing me to discard the tube altogether. I have used the regular Drydex spackle that comes in the 1 pint container before, and know that that is a good product. This tube, however, is not. December 5, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Stuff does not come out easily Tried a lot to get the paste out of the tube but it did not want to come out. I also tried to make the tube a little soft but nothing worked. I would rather get a jar instead. February 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Spackling Paste this product really helped me alot to fill the holes which were made by mounting TV on a Wall. October 7, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Squeeze tube poor...get a jar instead The squeeze tube is terrible...couldn't even get it out of the tube...the bottom split and made a mess all over my hands. Ended up stopping mid-project and returning to the store to get a small jar of spackle (same Dap brand) and it worked fantastic. Got the hole repaired in a matter of minutes (not including dry time) with the new product. April 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient This stuff is great for small jobs and on-the-go repairs. I have yet to purchase one that didn't work/was dried up. May 30, 2014
