Customer Questions & Answers

how often does the oil need to be refilled?

I am a little hesitant to purchase this where it mentions if it runs out of oil it could start a fire. I am considering purchasing this for my son who is in college and there is no heat in his bedroom. I worry because if he forgets to refill....
Asked by: Brigid
It does not need oil added/refilled. It is a sealed unit. If it BREAKS and the oil leaks out, get rid of it.

Safeheat 1500-Watt Basic Oil-Filled Radiant Portable Heater is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! Great price, great product. We have baseboard electic heat and it is VERY costly to use. But b/c of this great portable heater we have not had to turn on the baseboard yet. Wont know until our next electric bill if we've saved a lot of $$$ but so far we are very happy w/ this heater. Additionally on the plus side: We can wheel it to the center of the room and closer to our couch; where as the baseboard is accross the room and under some vintage (lol- drafty!) windows. So we feel the heat quicker w/ this unit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New or used? When I opened the box, first thing I noticed was the styrofoam was in pieces. I pulled the heater out, it looked like it had been used. The plastic in which things were wrapped were at the bottom of the box. The cord was wrapped around the heater which is usually not the way it comes from the factory. I then saw a dent on the side of the heater. I immediately got upset because I paid for a new heater and was sent one that was used or previously returned. I returned the heater that same day and got a full refund. I don't know how well the heater works because I didn't get a chance to use it. Customers, inspect you products.

This particular one is working well for me. Using in our 15x25 addition (minimal heat from central furnace) with 2-1/2 outside walls, and an unheated garage on the 3rd. The gas-fired wall unit died and would be $$$ to replace. This keeps the room a nice, even temperature even through our recent cold snap. I was prepared to buy a 2nd one if this wasn't enough, but it does the job!

My girls were very cold and I was concerned for them when nighttime temps were below zero. I have learned to set the thermostat based on the nighttime temp forecast and my hens are delightfully protected, warm and my coups are at an even 38 to 42 degrees!!! Very safe to use, no combustible parts around straw and wood shavings. Just keep it dusted off and free from debris underneath. I have three of these!
