Product Overview

Complement your deck, fence or porch railings with DeckoRail wood post caps. Besides improving the look, the pyramid-style post caps add value to your deck. The caps are pressure-treated for a longer life span. Because the caps protect the posts from the elements, the posts will last longer, too. You can paint or stain the caps (When dry) if you prefer.

What is the main complaint about this product? It looks pretty simple, just set on the post top and staple it on four sides.

Answer:
As with all wood products, we recommend that you coat these with a high-quality exterior finish in an effort to preserve the wood’s look and longevity. Apply to all wood areas, including the underside of the cap, before installation. We also recommend that you attach each post cap to a post by applying an exterior-grade construction adhesive to the underside of the post cap and place firmly on a post.

I am afraid that primer and paint on the interior will shorten the lifespan of the adhesives.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by terrible less than a month after installing, they began to split and separate. 6 months after installing, all were damaged beyond repair. spend a few extra bucks instead of throwing money away. April 26, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible product I purchased these post caps for my new porch rails 10 days ago. most are starting to split and crack. I had never seen anything like it March 15, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Warped in Pieces Now The wood is warped. It is made up of many pieces that have all come apart. I have had mine for three years and I am going to have to replace them now. I thought about using finishing nails to put them back together but some of the top pyramid parts have winged up on the sides. I used a very good deck stain. August 17, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid I purchased 8 caps 2 weeks ago. At this point 5 of the eight have cracks greater than a 1/4 inch. Of the remaining 3, only one has zero cracks. An earlier comment recommends staining/painting with an oil-based paint. The pressure treating prohibits this for a period of time. By then, the cracking has already begun July 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All 36 caps arrived in excellent condition and look great installed on my new fence! The finish on the caps was flawless, and the trim around the bottom of the caps really stand out, setting off the fence very nicely. October 29, 2014
