Almost impossible to set the time on because the adjusting pots (potentiometers) are so far inside and out of line with the holes in the case. The first two failed within a few months so I returned them. I stood there with Home Depot employee opening every single one they had in stock to find two I could actually adjust. The replacements failed within a few months so they're gone for good now. There's about 6 hours of my life I'll never get back....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great concept, poor quality control Great concept. A dusk to dawn photo control that can be set to turn off at specific time at night and come back on at a set time in the morning. Ideal for applications where you don't need all night illumination and it is an energy saver, particularly with the more power hungry street and security lights. I bought several. Unfortunately more than half of them didn't work properly. First of all, the documentation wasn't complete. One set of timer setting instructions didn't match the device but by that time I knew how it was supposed to be adjusted... However... I could not find on any of the documentation what I later discovered on-line, that the unit had to be powered up for a full 24-hour period before the timer function worked correctly. I came across that information after making several trips up ladders to remove photo controls and verify their settings when the clocks didn't set correctly - a process which of course powered them off and required additional 24-hour periods for the internal atomic clocks to synchronize. One control was assembled so poorly that the adjustment pots didn't line up under the screwdriver holes at all. A couple were assembled less poorly in that I could get the screwdriver to reach the adjustment pots but they didn't line up with the marks used to set the time intervals. So those were programmed more by guesswork and, you guessed it, additional trips up the ladder. At least I learned to take a pen light and screwdriver up the ladder and adjust the device atop the pole so it wouldn't be powered off long enough to have to go through the 24-hour synchronization routine all over again. One control failed to adjust at all. Another would go off at the right time but not come back on during the early morning interval. One control calibrated right away. What a relief! Except on the second night it came on at dusk and never turned back off, even after dawn in full daylight. And so the story goes. The return desk is bound to be tired of seeing me. I installed the latest one last night on one of the street lights and it stayed on all night, but it hadn't been powered up for a full cycle so I'm desperately hoping that it will synchronize and operate properly because I'm darn sick and tired of dragging out the ladder. With any luck I'll eventually end up with five of these that actually work as intended. I even went out and bought a twist-lock socket so I can test future controls at "ground level" and make sure they work before installing them in high places. Right now this unit appears to be the only game in town with respect to a twist lock street light and security light control that operates photoelectrically for dusk to dawn operation but can also be programmed to go dark during the middle of the night when illumination isn't needed. My final comment. It is conceivable that my local store simply received a bad batch of these devices. I would not discourage anyone from trying them as the concept is really sensible. But read the instructions carefully, remember that the units may require at least 24-hours for their timer modules to work correctly, and save the packaging for a few days in case you get a lemon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Agree with NevadaWillis The first review above by @NevadaWillis is spot on. I've been up and down my ladder so many times and the dumb light still stays on until 3am. I just leave the ladder up - and this weekend, I'll take the sensor off and return it to HD for a replacement.
