Customer Questions & Answers

Do you have to reset it everyday?

Do you have to reset it everyday in order for the lights to come on? For example: if i put the pins down today for a timeframe of 5pm to 12am, do I need to reset it again tomorrow for the same timeframe? or would it come back on by itself after i set it up the first time?

How does this work? Do pins come with it? I don't see any pins to push...

Asked by: JP
Unlike other models with pins to add in, this has 48 buttons in a circle. You push them in to turn something on during that 30 minute increment, or pull it out to turn something off. So, if you want something to turn on from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, just push in the buttons from 6-8. And that's it. Nice and simple. No pins required.

How do I turn the dial easier. Do I need to turn the timer off to turn the dial?

I have set the times by putting the pins down, but it doesn't work until I finally get the dial to turn to the approximate time.
Asked by: Elaine
I don't believe you have to turn it off first. It can stick a little bit but make sure you turn the dial clockwise. The gears inside the mechanism are designed to go one way. If you still have trouble getting it to turn, wait until the "Time Now" is the actual time of the day, then plug the timer into the outlet. Hope this helps.

I bought this particular one because I needed a grounded outlet, not a regular two-prong outlet. The timer itself seems to be working great, been using it about a month. The whole thing is a little cheap-feeling, but it works. It is pretty slim fitting and it's nice that there's no separate pieces you can lose. The resolution on the timer dial isn't great, so don't expect to be setting times down to the minute.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chinese copy of Intermatic standard While this knock-off is currently working, only time will tell if it can outlast the 15 year old Intermatic version it replaced. Gone are the simple red and green adjustable triggers. This version relies on the lifting of several segments and the depression of the rest to determine the on/off durations. My only gripe is that the segments are a pain to adjust without a long fingernail or skinny object.

When I attempted to setup the time for exterior seasonal lighting it would not work. After reviewing all setup instructions I found that to activate the time I needed to lift all tabs and then push down only those use to set on/off times. This is completely opposite to most timers I have used. Seems to function properly once set up however just seems to be an odd setup.

I have it set up to control the Grow-lights for an indoor seed starting stand in my basement. I have found it easy to change the settings to simulate the time of light from the sun. As the days lengthen I can easily change the settings either in the mornings or the evenings. Change to DST is no problem since the length of daylight is unchanged. I just have the timer set for standard time. It is working well so far

It works perfectly, and it's a much better design than the ones where you need to insert pins to make it turn on and off. This gives a lot more flexibility. I have no complaints about it at all. I'd recommend this to everyone who finds themselves turning lights or anything else, on and off at the same time of day. I use it right now for some lamps, but I'll probably get another in November or December for the Christmas tree.
