Why don't you sell an adaptor for the pre-drilled doors?

I love the look and price of this door knob!! However, I am not a handy person and I am trying to retrofit my 1950's pre-drilled doors so I can use this product. I have been searching on-line but have not found anything that looks like it will work. Why don't you develop/sell an adaptor for purchase to assist customers with this issue? It seems from the questions and answers on this site that the pre-drilled door issue prevents enough people using the product that it might be worthwhile. If you know of an easy solution for a non-handy person, please share. Thank you.

Answer:
You can use a small block of wood on each side of the assembly, as a shim, so you can tighten the screws during installation until an adapter is developed.

You can also glue in small squares into the pre-drilled hole where you can screw in the screws to hold the backplate on. Read Less

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 21 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Glass Knob This knob is exactly the look we wanted for our Grandma's old-style bathroom. The knob is well made, looks great and works very well. The lock works smooth and easy to use. September 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good value it was easy to assemble however you need to screw what I call caps into the door, so if you're replacing a larger door handle the hole may be too big. Still good value for the price and I would recommend this product and I would buy it again. October 18, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ornamental knob only -- These knobs DO NOT fit pre-drilled interior doors. They are not true room to room door knobs - ornamental knobs more suited for a china cabinet than internal doors. Useless must be returned September 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Classic looking knobs Love the look of these door knobs. The holes that go through the door are a smaller diameter then for standard doorknobs so you might need to do some fill in. September 13, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not a good replacement doorknob The door knob looks nice but I couldn't install it so I can't say how well it might work. I wish I had read reviews on the web before buying at the store because nowhere on the packaging does it note that the knob uses a 3/4 inch hole or that it won't work in a standard door. It is one thing to have to drill a bigger hole, but if the hole is too big to begin with, you are in trouble. July 31, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Loved the look, but that's it. The knob itself is looks nice, but I couldn't get these to stay secure on the door. To be able to turn the knob, it had to be loosely screwed to the inner bar which made it flop around and when tightened to prevent that, it wouldn't turn at all. The plate couldn't be screwed to the door, because the screw holes were over the actual hole in the door. I tried numerous times to set the tightness of the knobs and the lock screw with no luck. I have since replaced the 3 sets I had with a regular kind. June 21, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice retro look The reason for only three stars is that the two plates don't screw into each other. This set is made for a solid door, with only a small opening for the joining screw. Our doors have a larger cutout, so there is no way to attach the two plates.. I will place a small piece of wood behind the plate, and then screw the plates into that. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful!!! The glass door knobs add so much elegance to a room! The price was great & very easy to install. June 14, 2016
