Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Danielle Worth is for the customer service alone
Between the youtube video and book, you can really figure out installation on your own. (I did, and I'm not that handy). I ran into some confusion at the end with wiring the photo eyes and was shocked when I called the customer service number from somer. A friendly and helpful associate walked me through how to fix it- without making me feel stupid! I didn't even have to spend any time on hold. Great company, in my opinion, and I love my new quiet opener.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Buzman Great product, quality design and manufacturing
I am not a person who is easily impressed and I expect a lot out of the merchandise I purchase. I am extremely happy with this purchase. The design and craftsmanship of this garage door opener is exceptional. The quality of the material was top notch and the instructions were flawless. The You Tube video was an informative summary of the installation steps and gave a good feel for what was involved. Even the packaging of the product was well thought out and wasted no space and provided good protection during shipping.
The one con I have is the size of the buttons on the remote openers. They are very small and you have to look to push them. I would have liked them to be larger so that you could just reach over and touch the button without looking. I also would have liked the multi-function wall station to be wireless instead of wired. But neither of these cons are significant and I have no hesitations in recommending this opener.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tommy Super Quiet
When entering the house from the garage, I catch myself turning around to see if the garage door is actually closing. It's that quiet. Quality of the unit remains to be seen, based on how long it will last. However, with only one moving part I expect it to last for a very long time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by justsomeone WORKS GREAT, RUNS SLOW
I installed the unit about a month ago. It was easy to install (about an hour) because I was able to use the brackets from my old opener. The instructions was okay, but you have to figure out some things by looking at the pictures, rather than reading the directions. Door speed for my 7 foot door is 19 seconds, 7 seconds longer than my other door opener. Don't seam like much until you are waiting for it to open. Lights stay on 3 minutes and lights the whole garage. There is (so to speak) no noise from this thing. The value is as good as any other good quality opener, but I'm rather sure this unit will last my lifetime. I think you can't go wrong with this unit, if speed is not a consideration.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SoCalTandemcaptain Update to my June 12, 2012 review
I installed our new unit in June of 2012, and I am still very happy with it. I did want to mention an odd quirk that I encountered with our opener, though, in case anyone else might have a similar occurence. I had several times where I'd go to close the door and it would begin closing, but would immediately reverse and go up again. After some experimentation, I discovered that in early summer mornings the rising sun would be shining directly on one of the safety sensors' electric eyes, which apparently caused the opener to falsely think there was an obstruction in the doorway and make the door stay open. To solve this little issue, I bought one of those little sun shades made for GPS units and attached it to the sensor with velcro. The little shade keeps the sunlight from shining directly onto the little electric eye, and I have not had any further occurences of the door refusing to close. If you've had unexplained times where your door would not close, check to see if there's direct sunlight shining on one of the safety sensors. Try shading the sensor and that will probably eliminate the problem!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1stGarageOpenerInstaller This replaces Genie, the Sommers is very quiet, works with prius
So I put lubricant on the Genie unit chain, it went all the way into the control housing, and puff, smokes come out, it is goner. I tried to order from amazon, they did not get here on time, so i bought from HOme Depot. Same price. I used old bracket above the door frame, but the Genie Pin is thinner, so I had to insert washer into the Sommers beam end hole. I did not read manual only watched the Sommers 7 min video. That video showed 2 person install, but i had one man method, that i hook and secured the beam under the old controller bracket, while I installed the from and back of the beam.
I also used the old optical sensor wiring and the control pad wiring on the wall. The "smart force learning" process is very easy, you just run whole door 2 full cycle, and it sai learning completed.
To learn by Prius code is very easy, just push all 3 homelink keys on Prius for over 30 seconds (yes that long), until light all off, then go up to control housing to push the big red "learn" button, then within 10 seconds, quickly press one of the Homelink key for 2 seoncds, and repat one more time, 2 seconds, now you should hear your door moving, it is that easy, It is very quiet. the only con is the opening speed is slower than old Genie. I think opening speed could be faster, but again it uses only 24volts DC motor, so it is green.
