Why would I want the remote transmitter when the unit includes 2 wireless remotes?

Asked by: Dianne
If you don't have your remove it gives you access to the garage . You input your own code. It's good if you have kids or lost your keys or controller.

If I already have an existing single piece rail previously installed for a Craftsman will it be compatible or better to use?

I plan to get Home Depot to install this. I assume they can and will.

This is the moment. Forget the clunky obnoxious noise generating throwbacks and reap the rewards of the digital age. Seriously, this opener is spooky quiet. I replaced 2 1/2 hp liftmaster openers with 2 of these units. Difference between night and day. With a properly operating garage door, you will only hear a whisper during operation. After you install it, spray all the hinges, cables and moving mechanisms with 3-1 oil. Yep it stinks... Still do it. Quieting down the mechanical drive components lets the opener show it's true potential Most of your noise will be generated from your door/track mechanism. Don't blame the opener, its your garage door system

The good: Easy to assemble; most difficult job is locating and installing brackets to garage & door. Operates smoothly and quietly. Appears well-made and should last. The not-so-good: Very slow. Extremely difficult to set stops using the supplied phillips-head screws. U-shaped plastic bracket that supports the back end of the opener is weak; after several weeks of operation, it widened and one side of the rail slipped out, luckily the whole contraption didn't drop. I've added a clamp and additional support to prevent this in the future. Note: As far as I can determine, the rail is one conduit, and the chain is the other, for the electrical current supplying the drive motor. Quite slow

Although I planned to install this opener myself the delivery crew checked the garage before leaving. They noted an optional part was needed which they left for me to use. They opener is well made and straight forward to install. The only problem has been transferring the wireless code to my cars internal activator. Not sure were the problem is yet. Other then that, the opener works as advertised.

I recommend looking on YouTube for an installation video. Although the printed instructions were thorough, watching someone install and tall through the process was a huge help. Also, when programming HomeLink, got to the company's website and look at their video. I will save a bunch of time and frustration. Overall I am very pleased with the product.

I was replacing an old Sears unit so nothing interchanged. At best I would call this a 3 beer job, only because I like beer. The unit preformed as it was designed to. The following day I did have issues with door operation & called costumer service. They were very helpful, had my unit going in no time at all. I would & have recommend this unit !

The opener is extremely quiet and has the necessary torque to open my two door, hurricane proof garage door without struggle. The installer even commented on how quiet the unit was. Note: There was a little confusion on the part required to attach the control unit to the rail. The original design used a pin, the updated design uses a clamp. The instructions showed the pin type installation. Unfortunately the installer did not see the extra, yellow flyer included with the instructions. This lead to a slight delay. Once that was cleared up all went well. Cons: Like others, I find the remotes difficult to operate. The buttons are too small to readily access. I could not find an off market brand that would work with the opener. Not really a con but, the LED lights I was using in my old opener are not as bright due to the design of the head unit.

Purchased this Direct Drive opener to replace a 19 year old chain drive unit. I needed a unit which didn't require much head-space, and wanted a quiet opener. Instructions are clear (available on-line, which I read before purchase), and the (self) installation was relatively easy. Unit is so quite that we sometimes have to go back and check the door actually closed !
