I purchased this kit to help with some Christmas projects and ended up buying another 4000 Rotary tool kit, the drill press, router table, router attachment, and saw max. Already had the dremel scroll saw. Love these tools. So easy to operate, lots of accessories.

I bought this tool so that I could cut and polish some stones. Using the diamond edged cutting wheel I was able to slice through the stones easily and polishing was a breeze. Very powerful device and it was easy to set up the flex shaft. My one complaint is that dust has gotten into the on/off switch and now it's a little difficult to turn it on and off.

I had one of the original Dremels for almost fifteen years, but it stopped working-- the thing didn't owe me anything. Enter the 4000. With a $10 off coupon and seeing all the accessories (to add to everything I already have), I was excited to buy the latest and greatest. I can honestly say that it is.has been one of the most useful tools I have ever purchased. As a self-proclaimed "Jack of all Trades" I use my Dremel at least four or five times a week. I love the versatility of it.
My only concern with this new 4000 unit is that it gets surprisingly hot. I will be mindful of the rpms and what I'm working on, because I foresee this as a potential issue. ...five year warranty may come in handy.

Most of my work with my Dremels, ( I own a new 4000 unit and I have my old faithful 385 unit from 1980), are used to help me create museum models of old sailing ships. I find both tools and the accessories help me dress and shape the boxwood, mahogany and cypress woods that I use to create these plank-on-frame models.
I make my own fittings and the Dremels help with the shaping of the soft brass, copper and white metal blanks that I employ. The adaptability of these tools and their attachments to accept all forms of burrs, grinders and sanders make some very detailed work a little easier.
I use a variety of jewelers tools and other flexible shaft machines, but for the cost vs. capabilites ratio the Dremels come out way on top. I am glad that I discovered them so many years ago. They have helped me make this hobby of mine a lot of fun.
So, here's a long belated thank you to the Dremel engineers and the rest of the company.

I've had the Dremel tool for a short time now, and it has far out-done any of the other rotory tools that I've tried in the past. Thanks to my wife, (who says... You get what you pay for ), and not to say that this dremel is the most expensive rotory tool out there, but it acts like it is.! And I'm not gonna be the one to tell it that it's not the most expensive... Great work comes from a great tool...an older gentalman told me one time... I could not be more happy with this tool. It allows me to do some amazing things, and my wife has a list of tests for me and my dremel to try...I say...BRING IT ON...

I use it for wood working & projects around the house. Highly recommend the flex shaft attachment for wood carving or other intricate tasks. Use ear protection at higher speeds as it does get loud up around 20,000 RPMs
If you have big hands, make sure you don't cover up the vents. I think this might be one reason folks burn out their Dremel prematurely. This is another argument for using the flex shaft with the main tool hanging up on a pole - you don't have to worry about the vents that way. Not always practical, but works for some tasks. Also remember that these tools are very useful, but are not intended to replace tools for heavy work. For example, I would not use my Dremel to cut hardwood flooring for a whole house, but I have used it to cut a precision patch for one broken hardwood floorboard.
I have two Dremels now: 4000 & the Multi Max. I love them both. The nice thing about Dremel's customer service is that they stand behind their product. If you have trouble with your Dremel, don't hesitate to contact them.

Had purchased a Dremel long time ago... it was time for a new upgrade to the 4200 with accessories. I cut & polish stones & minerals with this tool. It is easier to change to different tools so I can move more quickly through the stone process. The hand tool is great with no vibration and can do fine detailing work. I also purchased the drill stand will be used with mounting the stones. This tool just does it all :)
