I bought this for use with a 20+ year old Craftsman tool very similar to a Dremel 8220. It fits perfectly and works well. Just have to remember to set the tool to the right speed; too slow and it bogs down, too fast and it burns the material instead of cutting. Only thing I don't like about this is the size of the print in the manual; in order to make it fit, they reduced the print to a 5pt font.

The item did not live up to its expectations which is odd since most of my dremel tools are really good. I bought it to cut a thin piece of trim and the tool moves too freely and over works the tool which causes a lot of heat inside the tool. After five minutes of trying to cut the dense wood, I was unable to make the cut and had to replace the entire strip of trim. The package should specify the types of wood it can cut and not just the thickness because hard woods are too much for this little device.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Michigan guy Binding and burning
I was excited to see this product in my local hardware store because it is just what I needed to cut 5mm plywood from a small boat hull. Since 5mm is <1/4", I didn't think there would be a problem. Although it cuts, I can't make a cut without the wood burning and needing to make multiple passes. The blade binds so quickly (at high speed) that I have to try and run the same cut line multiple times. In addition, it is difficult to see where the blade is cutting under the shield. It is easy to over and undershoot the ends of a cut because you are guessing where your blade actually is. I hope that Dremel improves this or makes better blades available.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by MTEW Needs a washer...
After reading the other reviews, I checked to see if I had the 'spin' problem with this attachment and my 4000. I did. However, I was able to construct a small washer that fixed the problem. Dremel could have done a better job sizing the connector.
I am mildly disappointed by how shallow the cut is, but I understand that there has to be a limit. I look forward to using this attachment.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by jawsII60 Excellent mini rip saw
I've had this product several years and the only problem I've ever had with it is binding but if I pay close attention to grain orientation and make sure I'm cutting straight all is well. A great tool if used for the appropriate job.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by seldredg One of the worst tools I've ever owned
I thought I could cut balsa and thin hobby plywood with this like a circular saw in construction. Have yet to be able to figure out how to use it, and there's no how-to documentation or support (I wrote). The plastic head rotates around the axis and makes the whole tool want to rotate backwards while being used. The blade guard has so much tension it's impossible to force it over the edge of a piece unless you use two hands and push hard. Once going it wants to stop and bind and I don't know what's stopping it. Not the 1/16 ply. I even tried putting the tool in a vice and using it like a table saw. I know how to use tools, but this one is beyond me. Nice gift for your worst enemy. To be fair, I did write about my problems and the retailer was willing to give me a full refund even though I had used the item. I declined thinking I could figure out. I couldn't.
