This heater is GREAT! We found it very affordable (that we even purchased a second one for upstairs) We love the fact that the display is on the front making it much easier to use the remote from across the room.
As you can see, it is pet safe!

I purchased this in an effort to cut down on my fuel oil consumption and it seems to be helping out. Does great from 25-50 degrees but does struggle if it gets colder out. Doesn't seem to jack the energy up anymore than the traditional oil-filled electric heaters I have and spreads it better.
Quailty...we will have to wait and see on this but it seems fairly well built so hopefully it will last several years!

I use my Dura Flame moveable heater model 8HM1500 to warm my Garage Mahal and keep it nice and warm. It is quite and kicks out lots of heat. Being that it is on wheels make it easy to move around if I want it closer to where I'm working in the garage. The little remote control for power on/off and temperature adjustment is very convenient to just place in my pocket. Great product, great price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dave Does help when propane or fuel oil costs are high.
Bought two of these in response to $5+/gal propane. Have one in my basement and one on the main level. I'm also using an older twin tube quartz tower heater(different manufacturer) in the laundry room, which is closed off from the rest of the basement.
With all 3 electric heaters running, I was able to keep my houses' main level at 68-70 and the basement around 62...basically the same as on propane heat alone.
My house is a split level built in 1978, and has R11 walls and R45 ceilings, along with the original windows(good for the time, but poor by todays' standards). Square footage is as follows: ML=1232, BSMT=1176, and entryway at 120, total of just over 2500. Given that, when the temp. is 25 or higher outside, the furnace doesn't run at all. When it drops below 25 it might run a couple times a day, and when it's -20, it'll run once to twice an hour...still less than without the electric heaters.
Prior to plugging in these heaters, I went through 170 gallons of propane from 1/15/14 to 2/14/14. After plugging in these heaters, I went through about 55 gallons in the same time period, cutting propane usage by 2/3 while my electric bill went from 90 to 310.
Now for actual costs: Current propane prices around here are around 2.59/gal, down from 5+, so my savings weren't all that much-around $52. So it looks like the savings cutoff is around 2.50/gal for propane. Now, when propane was $5/gal, that would've translated to over $300 saved.
Also, I'm not just heating a single room, but the whole house, so these heaters are running nonstop-24/7.
So they do help reduce heating costs if your primary source of heat is propane or fuel oil, or even electric, but if you're running natural gas, you'll either not notice any difference, or you'll have a net increase in utility bills.
The only reason I didn't give these heaters a higher rating is due to what I'd call a design flaw: the front tube on both burned out in a short time as it catches all the preheated air(superheating the front tube) before it leaves the heater. So instead of running at 1500w @ 5100+btu, they're running at 1250w @ 4200btu. I should send them in for warranty, but I might just see if I can get a better front tube given the hassle factor for warranty work.

This heater was a great deal as the deal of the day. It says it will heat up to 1000 square feet, and it may come close if it is one open area. You need to be realistic though. This will not heat your whole home without some help from another heat source. It will however allow you to heat the room you are using, allowing for the thermostat to be lowered on your main heat source. This should in turn save you money. It did raise my power bill some, but not a tremendous amount. The added comfort it provides on cold nights is well worth the small increase. Overall, I think these heaters do a great job and I will probably purchase another one in the near future.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 40yearCEO We liked the first one, so we got another one!
This is our second 1500-watt infrared Duraflame quartz electric heater. We bought one last year to cut our heating bills, and it did the trick. We turn the thermostat down at night, and turn on the Duraflame heater in our bedroom and set it at 2 or 3 (this unit has settings from 1 to 8) and it keeps the bedroom nice and cozy. Our bedroom is 16 x 22, and that size is no problem for this unit to keep very comfortable. This unit has a remote that I can control from our bed, and has very little noise when it is in operation. We now bought this unit for our RV. We can heat the entire 40ft. RV with this one unit. If you want a recommendation, we like both of our Duraflame 1500 watt heaters very much.
