this light bulb lasted less time than the regular bulbs, in fact i installed new vanity lights, i bought the Ecosmart bulbs and put them in one set of vanity lights and on the other side i installed the old incandescent light bulbs that i took out of the old vanity set. i did this two years ago, the old incandescent bulbs are still going and they are at least 9 years old since that is how long we have owned our home, this is the second time the ecosmart bulbs have failed in two years

Very dissapointed in the life of these bulbs - they are advertised to last 8,000 hours with a 7 year warranty. Mine failed in less than 10 months after less than 2,500 hours of use - in fact they failed in less time than the incandescent bulbs they replaced. Ensure that you note the date of purchase, date of installation and retain the receipt in order to make a warranty claim.

I made the mistake of buying these twice. The lights turn on with a dim purple color and after about 2-3 minutes will fully turn on to a harsh white. I installed these above a bathroom vanity and outdoors above our garage doors. I cannot say how long they will last, but I'm looking forward to replacing them before they die anyways.

The ads for these bulbs talk about 7 years of service, but my experience with them is nothing like that. I write the installation date on the base of all of the CFLs I use, as I've found that their service lives are substantially shorter than advertised or, in the case of older bulbs, guaranteed. I'm looking at one of these bulbs that I installed on 8/10/2012. This bulb burned out yesterday 5/20/13 and the other one of the pair has already failed. While I've never seen the 7 year service that many CFLs tout, less than one year of service before failure hardly makes them economical for the price. Also note that the service for these bulbs, a bathroom vanity was in my view average service. I've had better luck using the various name-brand bulbs, that cost a bit more but yield much better service life. Avoid these crummy bulbs. Don't be fooled into thinking you're buying a less expensive alternative to name-brands, and get what you pay for with the higher priced, but much more reliable and cost-effective name brand alternatives.
