Answer:
There is no way to attach multiple poles together as you describe, however there are a number of longer and adjustable extension pole options in aluminum and fiberglass at your local Home Depot store. An example would be SKU 907014. Thanks,

4 ft. Wood Extension Pole with Metal Tip is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 90.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you need a stick, this is it I bought this to paint my house, and made rolling a lot easier. Also good for practicing for LARP tournaments, in that it has a balanced weight. It is better than using the plastic pole that is on my push broom.

It was solid and did not even hint at breaking through 4 coats of paint on 1000 square feet of deck. Its good for a small one time use. I would upgrade if painting walls, ceilings or any large job unless you have small hands. This much square footage and painting on a wall with this pole would have hurt. A larger grip would be less tiring on a large job but you are going to pay 2 or 3X as much. Its an $8 stick. I got what I paid for and it did the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functional and affordable Any roller painting is easier with the right tools. And the wood extension pole is the right tool. Allows ease in painting while still applying pressure on roller to transfer paint from roller to surface. Great for reaching normal height ceilings from floor without needing a ladder (save ladder for trim painting). And wood is lightweight. You can't go wrong with this extension.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheap_you get what you pay for I picked this up to paint the ceilings and walls in my basement, and while it did work, after about 3 hours the rivet that holds the metal tip on the end started to loosen causing the roller to be wobbly, which made using it slightly harder I ended up buying another one (Wooster sherlock extension pole-much better). Save yourself $10 and go for a better quality one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I need the metal end for my more expensive extendable poles. You can buy the threaded end anywher... I need the metal end for my more expensive extendable poles. You can buy the threaded end anywhere so I just cut it off of the wooden handle and epoxied it onto the more expensive pole. Now I have a great pole that I don't have to trash and I will find a use for the wooden left over. It works like new.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't work (for me) This extension pole would not stay attached to the roller paint brush (also purchased at Home Depot), kept coming loose. I finally had to take it off, use the brush without it. I am not sure if the extension rod and paint brush were compatible, just assumed the extension rod would fit all brushes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Spend a little more. This product is absolute garbage. Don't do what I did, spend the extra money and buy a better painting stick. This was wobbly and after 10 minutes of painting the metal tip on the pool fell off. I had to use a drill bit, drill through the metal and screw the pool to the wood. Horrible.
