frame is zinc electroplated steel. suitability for outdoor use depends on climate and expected service life. if outdoor near salt water or road salt, or without shelter from rain/snow where precipitation is a weekly event, then definitely not suitable for that outdoor use. Casters made with stainless steel frames, swivels, and bearings are suitable for use outdoors near salt water and when exposed to precipitation. Casters with stainless frames using chrome alloy ball bearings can provide acceptable service in outdoor use away from salt water if re-greased at least annually, but the cost saving doesn't usually offset the additional upkeep. Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 2 of 4 failed after 8-10 lock/unlocks The brake lever is too weak. Before I even finished building my project, two of my four casters got stuck in the locked position so that the force required to unlock them was greater than the strength of the lever. Thus the lever bent and broke off. One time would have been a fluke, but twice after only 8-10 lock/unlocks?! I call that a poor product. I'm going to return these and find a different brand. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 5" casters Great on my 600lbs rolling pound work Bench. Makes it easy to move where ever I need it around the house. Love them. August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Installed on bottom of workbench Been installed now a little over a month. No issues whatsoever. Brakes very well, but really only need to use one. Workbench is large and heavy, but rolls easily. Barely have to push it. Great product! I did need to have my own screws on hand for this. I attached them to the 2x4/2x6 legs by attaching squares cut from some scrap wood I had lying around. Used washers and screws, 4 of each for each wheel. Working well so far. Not wobbly at all as one reviewer had said. December 27, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great caster Great caster. Surprising how smooth it rolls. Makes my workbench a cinch to move around. I was thinking bigger is better, but these make the bench a noticably more wobbly compared to the 3in casters so I'll probably stick with the heavyduty 3's in the future. Not wobbly like its going to fall apart, just that's what you get with such tall wheels. October 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Casters! These casters are great! Smooth rolling -- even with heavy object (work bench). Some other reviewer complained that there are no matching non-swivel casters; that's not a problem at all -- I put the swivel casters on all four corners, and my bench moves easily (glides) in any direction I want (forward, backward, side to side); I'm not restricted by the non-swiveling casters on one end. May 10, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by no matching wheels avail in store or website Almost all rolling cabinets use two stationary wheels (rigid) and two omni directional wheels. In this case you sell a terrific wheel caster wheel but no mate. Additionally, if one purchased this wheel and locked the direction in place and used it like a rigid wheel, you can't because the cam isn't set at zero rotation; thus the wheel is offset in the direction. Silly how this got through the HD buying dept. September 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great wheels Easy to mount and supporting the load without any complaints. The break is also pretty efficient in getting my moving platform stopped. June 3, 2014
