22 in. Machete with Softgrip Handle is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from GOOD DEAL FOR IT'S PRICE. I'am Panamanian, and as a Panamanian i grew up around lots of different brands of Machetes, it is part of my culture and a machete is a very important tool in our home, sometimes is not so much the Machete but the person using it, i got this Machete and it has chipped in many places and that is because i have abused it, i have run this Machete to the ground and i'am surprise it even still around. Machetes are best for cutting tall grass not for chopping down trees and so on, if you want to chop a tree get an Ax or a Chain Saw. i will be buying another one as soon as i finish running this one to the grown, i mean i really abuse this one. and i have gotten every penny i paid out out of it. i don't think that for the price i will find a better machete, i know of many other brands of Machetes and where to get them but i'am comfortable with the price of this one...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Anything But Super Sharp I was impressed with the heft and grip on the "Super Sharp" 22" machete. Unfortunately it's duller than the average butter knife. I couldn't cut ANYTHING with it, no matter how hard I hit. I was able to knock off a few small branches and leaves of shrubs, but I actually had more success hitting the branches with the closed blades of my garden "lopper". I'm sure I'll be able to grind an edge onto it, but I shouldn't have to, especially given the name/warnings on the package.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from was not sharpened at the factory The cutting edge was flat, not much sharper than the back of the blade. It took considerable time and effort to grind an edge on to it and then sharpen it. Works well if sharp.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the job for a while... This product is really used for small shrubbery. I wouldn't use it for anything other than that. It dents easily, is flimsy, but works. My dad has a different machete and I think his is a much higher quality. He has had it for years. And I have only had this for a couple of weeks and mine looks a lot more worn....I only used it twice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent This machete comes without a sheath or anything to store it in other than the cardboard packaging, so if you want to carry it in a protective carrying case, etc. you will need to purchase separately. It does have a hole in the handle so you can hang in the garage on a hook, add a loop to the handle, etc. The blade is very sharp and the handle provides excellent grip. It is not too heavy and is easy to use to hack at brush, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product with Misleading Wording I've had this machete for a year now and the only complaints anybody should have about it are about the wording on the packaging. It says "super sharp", but like most bladed tools of this nature you will need to sharpen it. A couple minutes with a file and it was good to go. What did surprise me is that it holds the edge after sharpening for longer than I expected. I've run the file over it a couple times after the first sharpening just to remove some dings left over from hitting stones, bolts, and other hard objects. This tool does what it is made for quite well, which is chopping through relatively thin plant life. If you need to cut something 2"+ thick then it is better to get a different tool. The flexibility in the blade is great for its durability. I've used this to remove shrubbery from my home. A reciprocating saw or the like is needed for the thick portions but using the machete to remove the outer portions and slicing through the dirt to get the roots makes the rest of the work easier. I even trimmed some other hedges and bushes with it that were too far for my extension cord to reach.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A POOR PURCHASE. The store associate told me how sharp this product was and to be careful. NOT!!!! This product of poor quality steel that would rarely hold an edge was pitiful. The back of the blade was sharper than the cutting edge. Nail scissors would do a better job. You get what you pay for and the return guy told me that they get a lot of returns on this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for clearing brush I'd used a machete as a kid to help clear some light brush and grasses. When I purchased a house I found I needed a new machete. The Fiskar 22 inch machete provides a large steel blade with a soft rubberized handle. It at 22 inches it provides good speed when swinging and thus does a good job of clearing brush. The blade itself arrived duller than i would like, so after my initial tests I spent a few minutes sharpening the blade. The sharper option does provide a much better cut, and with less effort. I also used the newly sharpened blade to take down a small 2" weed-tree that had been bothering me for a few months. Only took about 30 swings or so, which is pretty good. I'm docking ¼ star for the dull to start blade. and ¾ stars because it does not come with a sheath of some sort. Instead it is being stored in its white cardboard box it was sold in. Would also be nice if the end came with a small leather strap, not to worry, I added my own. I'm pleased with the machete, does what it should. A little machete tip - if you are going to be weeding, use a walking stick and put it in front of the leg opposite to the swinging arm. This a) gives you something to lean on and helps your back hold out longer, and b) acts as a guard should you not slow down / stop in time. Rather than hitting your leg, you get the walking stick. far fewer stitches.
