Customer Questions & Answers

Is this easy to remove in the spring?

I would like to know if the tape will leave any residue on my woodwork.
Asked by: Mewonder
Yes, the tape leaves a residue. It may (most likely), or may not have color to it. Unlike what Frost King answered, the tape residue IS NOT EASY TO REMOVE. Products like Goo Gone and rubbing alcohol work just fine, but you need to use a lot, put in plenty of effort (the same as install), use a razor blade and prepare to possibly remove paint. Yes I have used this this, but not their included adhesive. There are much better roll adhesives that start clear, stay clear and actually remove easily. Check your local craft stores. OR - protect your window sills with washable paint. I have now done that. Easier clean up.

Can this be used on a car window without the tape affecting the paint?

Asked by: Spaj17
This will not work on a car window, and the tape is not formulated to work on the paint of a car.

E/O Heavy Duty Shrink Window Insulation Kit (3-Pack) is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Keeps the Draft Out! I applied it last night and found an almost immediate difference. It is an absolute must to make sure that the surfaces you apply the tape to are clean and free of any residue or the tape will not adhere well. It is also advisable to heat the cleaned surface with the blow dryer just before applying the tape if said surface is cold. I'm not sure how long the tape holding the plastic will stay attached. If you have cellophane tape used for packaging, it might be worth it to leave the outer edges of the window frame untouched to tape the plastic to the frame after you have finished installing to ensure the plastic stays in place.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor double side tape strenght If you want to use these sheets you really need to find another double side tape from a different manufacturer . It won't mater how thick are the sheets, the tape won't hold up more than a week.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked as expected Bought these last year, as the windows in our bathroom and daughters bedrooms were quite drafty. Simple enough to install by myself, and stayed on from November through April. The rooms were much less drafty, and much warmer as a result. By the end of the winter, sometimes a corner would come off, but quite easy to put back on without much issue. Had none of the problems with the tape that the others mentioned. There was enough tape included in the package to have some left over. Will be purchasing them again for this winter.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Didn't stick Maybe because it was already cold when I applied it or maybe because I live in an apartment building older than dirt It's not the tape's fault though I even used Duck tape and it didn't stay I ended up tacking it up with nails

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tape doesn't hold plastic down. It's really disappointing to pay three times as much for thicker plastic, only to find that the tape can't hold the plastic down. What a waste! We'll be returning the boxes we haven't opened.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk. Do not buy. The tape wouldn't stick to the clean dry wall before I even approached it with ... Junk. Do not buy. The tape wouldn't stick to the clean dry wall before I even approached it with the plastic. Very frustrating.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ridiculous You'd think that something that comes with tape, would be STICKY! No, not a chance. Tape doesn't stick for more than 30 seconds, regardless of the cleaning and drying that is done to the surface area. Make the surface warm? Isn't that what I'm trying to do with the product in the first place? If I had to make the area warm to attach the product to keep it warm, then I wouldn't exactly need the product...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a big fan The window film did work, however, the two-way sticky tape is weak and does not stick to the film long. We had to use our own tape on top of the film before shrinking with a blow dryer. Recommend only if you don't mind adding your own tape on top.
