Why doesn't the timer program work?

The timer is installed by a professional electrician. It was in the manual mode initially, working fine. We turned the big red switch from "ON" (bottom) to "TIMER" (top), programmed the date/time (to turn on in the next 5 minutes, just as a test) and made sure "A" is displayed, which indicates that the timer is in control. The timer did not turn on at the programmed time. What else should we try? Thank you!

If you can have the unit in the unlocked setting you should be able to turn it on if it's in the off mode at the time. using the override setting button.

7 Day Digital Outdoor Box Timer and On/Off Per Day is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Upgraded version of older plastic housing timer This replaced the older style timer. The difference is a metal (instead of plastic) box, and an additional switch inside. Everything else is the same. I originally replaced a mechanical timer in the hopes that no moving parts would translate to lasting a LONG time. Although the first timer lasted a number of years, I think it should have gone longer. Replacement cost isn't the issue; the difficulty with installation (especially MY installation) is. Hopefully, this timer will last a little longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid and good product, especially for the price I was shopping to replace an older mechanical timer on the pool motor. I didn't like the old dial system, so I wanted a digital one that was easy to program and had multiple on/off programming capabilities. Other digital timers were $100+ and I was going to settle for another like my old one, when I saw this product. Since a hanging box was already in place, I was able to take it off and install this one in a about an hour. Wiring and jumper settings need to be right, but I'm not an electrician and I figured it out. Now my pool motor runs twice a day for different time intervals. Great product. If you have an old dial timer that needs replacing, you've found the solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great - timer and metal box included at one low price I suddenly found myself to be in the market for a new pool pump timer when my old mechanical timer died. Since my wiring and box were already in place, I considered just a timer unit with no box, but this product is cheaper than almost everything on the market, plus it includes a nice metal box. It has an internal battery backup and is easily programmable without any line voltage, just like an LCD alarm clock. This battery retains the programming should your power go out. Supports both 110v & 220v, switch selectable. Before you say "duh" consider that line power is utilized to energize the relays required in an electronic (non-mechanical) timer/switch. Wiring is as simple as any mechanical timer, wire jumpers included for multiple common installation configurations. Programming is straight forward, but is certainly easier when you first take it out of the box while still in your house, since the internal battery backup powers the LCD clock/timer. Lots of on/off options, perhaps too many for those of us who just had the mechanical timer turning the pump on and off at the same time every day of the week. But this is a great feature, especially for those off-season months where you may not need to run your pump every day, but want to run it now and then. Easy switching to "manual" mode for full manual control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great timer and good value I'm a do-it-yourself kind of guy and this product was perfect for my needs. I purchased this unit to replace a malfunctioning timer for outdoor lighting. Installation was simple and straightforward. The only issue I had was with the instructions for setting the digital timer not being easy to understand. I had to find a video online that explained the timer setup. Once I viewed the video, setup was a breeze. I highly recommend this product to anyone interested in quality, value and ease of installation/use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money In November 2012 I purchased and installed this timer made in China by Jascoproducts (a USA company) for GE. I programmed it and it worked fine. In April 2013 (17 months later) when having to reprogram it, the programming functions would not work. I called Jascoproducts and was told by customer service, "... it's past the one-year warranty period ... we won't replace it ... you need to buy a new one ... that timer usually lasts 5-6 years." Aside from being PO'd about it crumping after only 17 months, I was astounded that the Jasco rep said these units normally last 5-6 years, as though that length of time was something to brag about. Doesn't seem to be anything made to last any more.
