Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DIYGuy Upgraded version of older plastic housing timer
This replaced the older style timer. The difference is a metal (instead of plastic) box, and an additional switch inside. Everything else is the same. I originally replaced a mechanical timer in the hopes that no moving parts would translate to lasting a LONG time. Although the first timer lasted a number of years, I think it should have gone longer. Replacement cost isn't the issue; the difficulty with installation (especially MY installation) is. Hopefully, this timer will last a little longer.

This timer was installed about a month ago for a new pool install. The timer works great and has performed exactly as expected. The only annoyance is with the programing of the timer. It is not intuitive. I needed to read and reread the instructions before I was able to successfully get it to do what I wanted it to. I usually figure these things out without the directions, but this time not so lucky. Now that I know how to do it it has been easy to add new start stop times etc. I would recommend this if you need a timer for your electrical application.

I'm a do-it-yourself kind of guy and this product was perfect for my needs. I purchased this unit to replace a malfunctioning timer for outdoor lighting. Installation was simple and straightforward. The only issue I had was with the instructions for setting the digital timer not being easy to understand. I had to find a video online that explained the timer setup. Once I viewed the video, setup was a breeze.
I highly recommend this product to anyone interested in quality, value and ease of installation/use.

I bought this for a 1HP pool pump. The gasket keeps the water out, the unit can handle more than 15 amps and the price was less than those standard hot water heater timers. Timer function was pretty easy to program, it had a toggle switch override and there were many different wiring options. I am not an electrician, but the wiring diections were very clear. The power bar where you attach the wires was connected directly to a circuit board which flexed a little so be careful not to tweak or break anything. I wish it was made in USA, but it was made in China as usual. Hopefully it lasts quite a few seasons, haven't decided if I will take it in for the winter. It gets cold up here and not sure if it will shorten its life span.

I was shopping to replace an older mechanical timer on the pool motor. I didn't like the old dial system, so I wanted a digital one that was easy to program and had multiple on/off programming capabilities. Other digital timers were $100+ and I was going to settle for another like my old one, when I saw this product.
Since a hanging box was already in place, I was able to take it off and install this one in a about an hour. Wiring and jumper settings need to be right, but I'm not an electrician and I figured it out. Now my pool motor runs twice a day for different time intervals. Great product. If you have an old dial timer that needs replacing, you've found the solution.

After running my 240VAC 1HP pool pump 24/7 for 8 years and performing the cost analysis, I decided it was time to install a timer. The flexibility of operating voltages gave me exactly the solution I needed and then some. Construction, including the housing, is very good quality and should provide a long service life. With the reduced duty cycle of the pump motor, I expect it to last longer as well and cost less to operate. We have received our first electric bill and already see an improvement. At this rate, the timer will pay for itself in less than 3 months.
