What do i put in this engine for oil

Asked by: Sid
Per the product's owner's manual, Generac's OneWash residential grade pressure washer, model number 6602, will initially require the use of an SAE 30 oil for the full extent of the unit's 5-hour break-in period. You can switch to a 5W-30 synthetic oil after this initial period has passed.

How do you ger a detergent mix into the spray

Asked by: Leland
The siphon pump that is included with the unit will be attached to the pump. This in turn, will allow you to place the detergent into the stream when pressure washing. To find out more information on this unit, below is the link for more specific details. Joseph

Customer Reviews

3100-PSI 2.8-GPM OHV Engine Triplex Pump Gas Powered Pressure Washer is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 years running This is the start of my third season using this. I work for a general conteactor and this has seen some use. A few months ago I had trouble with getting it to start and run. Not wanting to deal with it at the time and in a hurry, I purchased a cheap replacement. Bad idea, the replacement didn't last a month. So I went back to the Generac to take a look. After removing the fuel tank I quickly realized the problem. Dirt had built up in the tank and clogged the filter at the bottum of the tank. While I had it apart I cleaned the carb and tank and re-assembled everything. Added fresh fuel and it started on the first pull. Couldnt be happier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It finally works, but it wasn't easy Based on Amazon and TheHomeDepot reviews of various washer makes, Generac seemed like a good bet. In both cases these must be bought on-line. Amazon buyers seemed to have issues getting warranty service and were having bad shipping experiences which I didn't think I'd have purchasing thru TheHomeDepot (THD). However this hasn't been a perfect experience. The THD dock helpers loaded the box in the back of my SUV but put it in on its side. By the time I got home (4mi) a lot of oil leaked out all over the machine and box. It was a mess. I also found that the box didn't have a pressure hose. A Generac partner sent the hose for free but that took another 3 weeks. After THD's 30 day return window had passed I was able to start up the machine. I ran the machine about 5hrs cleaning patio concrete and was having constant problems with the washer suddenly shutting off. It wouldn't run more than 10min w/o abruptly shutting down. I called Generac support and was told to take it to a service center, in my case a 70mi / 3hr round-trip from PDX OR. The service guy said he'd seen several of these new machines this year (2014) for the same issue. Problem is the engine can't drive the pump head at full pressure, and the fix is to back off the pressure a turn or less from full. It was obvious to the ear how the engine smoothed out when doing so. Funny that Generac telephone support didn't suggest this. A couple important things to note: You want to purchase and use pump-saver (goes into water inlet) to prolong the pump lifetime, special oils for the pump and engine (Briggs & Straton make all these; pump and engine oils are NOT the same) and use fuel stabilizer in the gas if it stays in the machine >30 days. Engine oil should be changed in first few hours of use, and then every 40 hrs max (50 is too long) or every season, whichever comes first; pump oil every season. Using the machine was a breeze. The wand is easy to hold and use. Fold-down handle allows it to fit in the SUV w/o drama. Hose is a good length. Good tip assortment. 3000 PSI and flow rate made cleaning speed faster than the cheaper machines while not as tiring as the 4000 PSI rental units.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from If only it had started Can't recommend this product because I never got it started. Went together OK, but when it was time to start it up, it was a no go. Could not even get a spark from it. Maybe if it started it would have gotten better ratings.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great washer, but ... Great washer. Easy to assemble, start, and operate. I had no problem restarting after releasing the pressure in the pump. Powerful; works really well. Only con is that its rather bulky/heavy compared to other washers with similar specs. I'd still recommend it, though. Two reasons for the 3-star review, and both have to do with my specific unit. First, mine shipped without a high-pressure hose. Generac customer service agreed to send me a replacement, but it's back-ordered. I ordered the unit in mid-june, but won't get the hose until mid-august. I had to buy a replacement hose to test the unit, and I'll return it after receiving the stock unit. Second, the quick-connect adapter (spring-loaded, female part) at the end of my wand has a ding/burr that prevents it from catching unless/until you manually force it down. I lost two tips before I figured this out -- one landed on my roof and the other landed somewhere in the yard (will probably hit it next time I mow ...). Good unit apart from these two annoyances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good choice for "prosumers" I am not a contractor or painter, but needed to do more than most homeowners.....I have a 1200 square ft. concrete patio around a pool, an RV, a boat, a brick office building with black streaking, some family farmland that had deferred maintenance, and some rental properties that need siding and walks cleaned. I got tired of renting a washer or paying someone to do a wash job, so I started looking for a washer. The salesman at the big box store said "don't buy anything but a Generac....the other brands we sell all come back...I've never had a Generac returned in 5 years." I was not familiar with the Generac name, so I went home to do more research and realized he was probably right. I didn't want a "disposable" unit and "Made in USA" was very important to me after a recent experience with two defective Chinese engines in new push mowers. Very happy with my choice!
