Only disappointment was when I look for the model and serial numbers on the Generator only to find out that the unit was made in China. I assumed Generac was made in Wisconsin.

Very well built. Was just what I expected. Ran for 3 hours so far and didn't skip a beat. Started right up on the first pull. This generator is 3 times more powerful than my old generator of 35 years. Could not run the whole house on old generator during power outages. This generator will surely get us through with more comfort. Surprised at how quite it is. Not as noisy as my old generator. Large fuel tank will mean longer run time between fill ups, compared to my old generator. I Can't wait till the next power outage to give the generator a really good test. It is a little heavy but not bad to move around since it does have a handle and wheels.

This is the first Generator I have bought and so far I am happy with the purchase! It was very easy to put together. It only took about 15 minutes from unpackaging to startup. It is a little loud, but not over bearing. I shut the power off to the house and started it up on the first pull! It ran great and most importantly it ran the jet pump, furnace, refridgerator, living room lights and TV, kitchen lights and bedroom lights and TV! Everything I needed to run! I used 2 15W energy saving bulbs in each room. One thing they should include is a funnel for the oil. Over all it is a great product!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JoelG Good generator...Excellent Value
Assembly involved attaching the handle and the wheels...nothing complicated.
After oil and gas were added to their respective tanks and "choke', fuel and power switches were turned on, it was ready for deployment.
My initial pull of the cord did not do anything.
After checking all around, I noticed that the cord for the spark plug was not attached.
After attaching it, I gave it another pull and it worked!
It was also relatively quiet for a generator of this size.
Pros: Clear Instructions, Nice Design, Easy Installation, Easy to Use, Great Sound QualityGreat

I got this generator 4 weeks ago and got my transfer switch wired up just in time for Hurricane Sandy. I lost power for 24 hours and ran the Generac for 10. The 6500 was more than enough to run my fridge, gas water heater, gas furnace, lights and outlets in select rooms with plenty of juice to spare. As a courtesy I powered 2 of my neighbors refrigerators as well. I was also happy with the noise level. I was expecting it to be much louder. I ran the generator in the shed with the doors open and fans running to keep airflowing.

Everything required to assemble the generator and place it into service with the exception of an extension cord was included. Overall quality appears excellent, there is a simple startup guide, and the engine fired with the first pull. Purchased as an emergency power source so I have no continuous operation data. Judging from what I've seen so far I have confidence it will perform as designed; quite happy so far.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bobs Overall pretty good so far, but obviously no experience with long term durability. Convenient installation is a challenge.
Unit was fairly easy to setup and get running. It was easier to move around and get in position than I expected. Started right up, and I tested it with a light duty extension cord and a lamp just to make sure it functioned. It did. However, the hard part of using a unit like this is setting it up to get some real power into the house for emergencies. Running simple extension cords into the house to individual appliances etc.will work, but is pretty clumsy and inefficient. It is better to "hard wire" it into the service box, which allows much more flexibility and convenience. Easier said than done. It must be configured to absolutely disconnect the the service box from the grid when the generator is operating, and vice- versa. You can buy a kit to do this, but they aren't cheap (and not a breeze to connect up). I was able to work out my own way of accomplishing a very functional installation, but I am an engineer used to figuring stuff like that out (and having a small machine shop in my basement to make parts helps). So far so good, but time will tell if the unit has long term reliability.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jordan very nice generator
This generator is better than expected. Nice compact frame with fold out handle. It also quieter than expected. During the last storm I borrowed a rigid generator which was much louder. Very large gas tank. Very easy to start. I was also impressed with the delivery. He actually brought it right into the garage for me. Very satisfied with purchase
