I installed this door closer on the door between my back hallway and garage, in July of 2014. In January of 2016 (18 months), it stopped closing the door completely, leaving a 1 inch opening. I tried adjusting the control screw, but to no avail. Now I have to find a better replacement.

The unit is white and blends perfectly with my white fire door going into the garage. The door used to slam with great force and the noise was enough to startle me on many occasions. I seem to be very sensitive to noise and now the door closes with a whisper.
The second benefit is that the door will now remain open when it is purposely opened beyond 90 degrees to permit bringing in large items with both hands or when arms are full with multiple packages.
I had a handyman install it for me in about an hour. The door closure adjustment does take some time to refine it properly. Overall, a great purchase. The only negative is that the door now requires more effort to open but you get used to it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by WaianaeJames96792 Compact design with no competition
This unit is a hydraulic/spring activated closer. This type is what is used in commercial style closers. The spring is wound as you open the door which charges and stores power. The hydraulic action slows/attenuates the closing action. This unit is the only small one I have seen which will work on steel security screen doors (the ones which come with two lockset openings in the frame). Only drawback is the unit is not a long term item. My front screen door catches a crosswind which eventually threw the closer out of whack. I am buying another. Finish is good paint.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by vmvmvm44 Broken after 3 months of normal use
I bought this Door Closer in the middle of December 2014. It's main bolt connecting the two parts broke in the middle of March 2015 after normal use. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by johnes Does not close door
The product is nice in that it can be installed in a number of different configurations to suit your door. In my case I purchased it to close the door between my house and the garage. Unfortunately the mechanism is not very strong as pauses as it is closing the door and does not have enough force to complete the action.
I would not recommend this product to anyone. The only thing I have for my trouble are some holes in my metal door.

This compact door closer works great for a steel 36" security door. It mounts easily on the outside of the door. The adjuster works well to close the door slowly and quietly.

This was an identical replacement for a 7 yr. old one that wore out. The product seems to work well enough for an insulated steel garage entry fire door at my house. I did have to fabricate a simple 1/2 inch base extension block to enable the closer to work properly.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Thai Does NOT Have Hold Open Feature
Very false advertising. This unit does NOT in any way shape or form have any such Hold Open features - even though it states that right on the packaging. Instruction manual doesn't mention it either. Disappointing.
