Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by preppygirl56 great first tool cabinet
We had a Home Depot gift card and my husband has always wanted a tool chest for our garage. This one met the price point. This is not a heavy duty professional cabinet. However, it is quite nice and will work out very well in our garage. It quickly was able to organize our tools and provide a nice place for organization. The chest had some damage on the right front lower cabinet. My husband used a hammer and wood blocks to push the corner out and into proper position.
It was easy to assemble. The bolts could have been longer, since it was a tight space for the base to attach to the cabinet.
It took him 45 minutes from start to finish to put the cabinet together, including the repair work.
The chest has ample room , with various size drawers which roll well and lock.
The wheels are large enough, but they do not have locking ability.
The grey color is standard and matches our other garage storage cabinets.
He is happy with this version, although it is not the top of the line cabinet.
The cabinet at the bottom is large enough to store some of the larger and longer tools, such as a crow bar. As packaged, the smaller top tool box is shipped inside of this lower door cabinet. One of the first steps is to remove the bottom of the tool chest to drop out the smaller tool cabinet.
This is why it was necessary to hammer out the front right corner. It would not have been possible to remove the smaller chest, without doing that first.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by hpiguy Huge Storage Capacity, Deep Drawers, All Drawers/Doors Lock With One Key
HDX has a winner with this basic tool chest. It fits the bill for the average do it yourselfer's tool storage. Economical in price and large on storage capacity, you'll be pleased.
It easily fits 300 piece tool kits and has room for more. The bottom two door cabinet allows you to store spools of extension cords, power tools, and other accessories.
Painted in a gloss grey, it stands out from the usual sea of red tool chests and looks great in any garage or workshop.
Construction is of steel, which makes the entire chest and cabinet weigh about 75 pounds. It's not real flimsy, but the corners can be bent if you bang it around a lot. It had some shipping rash out of the box. Nothing that couldn't be overlooked if you're not a perfectionist. It will see more banging around in the garage anyway.
Unpacking and assembly takes about 20-30 minutes at most. Most of the time is taken bolting the casters on. You'll want a phillips head screwdriver to separate the cabinets when unpacked and then you'll need to use a 12mm socket or wrench to bolt on the casters. They give you a couple extra sets of bolts, just in case you butter finger a couple of them. Not that any of us home handypeople ever do that, right?
The casters bolted on quickly, but due to the rough handling during shipping, the bottom of the cabinet was slightly tweaked. It bends back into shape and once the bottom of the cabinet and casters are bolted on, it becomes very sturdy. I would have liked to see two of the casters have locking levers. No one likes a run away tool chest on a sloped driveway.
All the slide out drawers ride on ball bearings and are very smooth. They push back into position with a positive notch to hold them securely from sliding open on their own when unlocked.
All of the locks (3) are keyed the same letting you open only the sections you need and leaving the rest secure from the dreaded "invisible tool borrower".
I'd like to see two things added to this tool storage chest. I'd like to see handles on the cabinet and upper chest. It makes it much easier to maneuver the cabinet and lift it into a truck when filled with tools.
I'd also like to see locking levers on at least two of the casters to keep the cabinet from rolling on uneven ground.
Overall, not a bad tool chest for the price. Sturdy, attractive and plenty of storage for a large do it yourselfer's tool set.
Ball bearing drawers
Deep drawers for larger tools
Three levels of locking ability
Gloss Grey Finish
Bottom doors allow for larger power tools, air tools, extension cord spools
Thin steel used, bends easily on bottom
Casters are lower quality, do not lock
No handles on cabinet or upper chest

I wish I would have read the reviews before I ordered it and had it sent to my house. After taking it out of the box we noticed the bottom corners were damaged to the point we couldn't even put the wheels on it. There were also dents on the sides as well. I took it back to the store and returned it. I was going to get a new one but they are on backorder now. They then offered me another one that was more expensive for the same price I paid for this one for my time and inconvenience. So glad I went for a different brand after reading the reviews. Im happy with the customer service but not the product!!!!! You'd think after so many complaints they would do something about it!!!! I don't know how many complaints and bad reviews they need before they take action.

I was very surprised by how dinged up this tool chest was when it arrived. There were a few dents on the sides of the cabinet & those weren't a huge deal - it's a tool chest, it's doesn't have to be pretty as long as it's functional. However, the bottom of the chest where the casters connect was badly mangled. I had to spend a good amount of time hammering it out just to make it usable. If you look at the very base of it now, you can tell it's had a hard life, but the casters were able to attach, so that's all that mattered. If it hadn't been for the bent pieces, it really wouldn't have been hard to put together at all.
Once assembled, it's very sturdy & has plenty of room for tools. It has a nice variety of drawer sizes & I really like the large cabinet at the bottom - great place to store seldom used power tools. This product allowed me to completely clear off a 4 ft work table that had become hopelessly covered in tools, bits & boxes of screws. I also moved everything from my small, hand held tool box into this tool chest & there are still drawers that are going unused. It's really a terrific amount of storage for the price point. Because of that, I will recommend it in spite of the issues with the product arriving damaged. As long as you order it with the understanding that you'll probably have to use a hammer & brute force to get it assembled, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
The only thing I don't like is that you have to open the top lid in order to open any of the small drawers on top. It's not a huge deal, and maybe that's standard, but sometimes it's a little inconvenient. I find myself just leaving the top lid open all the time. I also think that having locks on the casters would be a nice bonus. I will keep this chest stationary most of the time, but in the event I wanted to take it into the driveway, being able to lock the casters would be a nice feature.
Bottom line: great amount of storage at a good price, but be prepared to fix some shipping damage during assembly.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Tina Good value for the money
Bought this tool organizer as gift for my husband. It is great for homeowners in this price range as most people say, has good space and dividing drawers are convenient for all kind of tools. In addition to the minor scratches and bends that were expected, also the keys were missing. It was all locked, which was disappointing that we couldn't assemble right away. But called the number on the instructions and they send us the right key within a week or so. Overall, glad that didn't have to deal with returning it, it works, and finally tools are not dangling around the whole house.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Megatog Nice for the price
I purchased mine a few weeks ago. Was a bit cheaper then.
Very nice for the money. I like the swing doors at the bottom.
I had to order twice and take one back. The packaging is not meant for shipping and they ship in factory box. The first one I received was damaged badly and had to return to local store then wait a week for refund. The second one was also damaged ,but I was not going to wait a month again and they raised the price 20$ between orders? I was able to hammer out all the dents and almost get the top box to close straight. It is not fault of Home Depot, UPS is hard on packages. The metal is thin and the packaging wont take a drop. Just note that the 10 drawers include 4 side by side at the top. Was perfect for me. You really are getting fewer drawers.
All in all worth it. I f you wont mind a few dents from UPS good deal.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by woodworker2 Dented as expected, but affordable.
Just like the other reviews said, the bottom of the box arrives pretty bent and dinged up. It isn't too conspicuous once assembled, but the edge do need to be straightened out in order to line up the holes and get the casters on.
I personally recommend placing one 2x4 on the inside of the corner and one on the outside, then using a clamp to press them together. This straightens the sides out pretty well without adding any additional creases, and helps to square things up.
At this price, I can't complain too much. I saw the reviews beforehand and decided it would be worth it. The tool box itself is actually nice for the price, ball bearings are smooth and each section locks separately. Just be aware that assembly will have some bumps in the road as a result of poor shipping.
