Customer Questions & Answers

placed inside cabinet?

Would i be able to place this unit inside of a cabinet? The side of the cabinet would have a grate installed for air flow. The exhaust would be sent through the floor of the cabinet then ducked through a crawlspace then to the outdoors. Thanks for any help.
Asked by: NJ
There is probably one more issue whether it's in the cabinet or not. A/Cs put out water condensate' In this case it normally gets eliminated through the exhaust hose. If you run an extension through the crawl space there is the possibility that the water vapor could condense again inside the exhaust forming puddles and causing other problems You should look at other alternatives to disposing of the condenscate

14,000 BTU Cool and Heat Portable Air Conditioner with 110 pt. per Day Moisture Removal in Dehumidification Mode is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 180.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Electrical Demand Product seems well made and performs as expected. The only downside is that under high heat conditions, it trips the GFI circuit (15 amp). The manual does say it should be the only item on a circuit.

If you need this item as a heater, do not waste your time; my wife's blower produces 10 times more heat (believe me) and the room I bought this for is 130 sq. ft aprox.!! Also, I don't understand how this people can still sell this unit that is noisy beyond words!! The service from H.D wasn't really good either; I had to order this twice b/c first time they sent a drawer chest instead!! The 1800 line doesn't even have a choice for complaints so you will feel the pain and that is just the starting point of the journey. In fairness they gave me 15% discount in the second unit but after trying form 2 or 3 days I just returned it

I have an added room on the back of our house this room started out as a sun room. but was finished to be an addition. My wife spends most of her time in this room, there was no heat or air in there. Had a smaller unit of the same manufacturer which worked pretty well until it got really cold, and after 3 or 4 years the heating side quit working. When I decided to buy a another I went with this bigger unit and so far it does the job of keeping the room well heated even though temps recently have been in the single digits. Don't know yet of the A/C but the smaller unit worked well and I expect the larger unit will work as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good buy. I ordered two of these heat/air units and before I received them, I had two outlets put into my home just for them. They work good, but I was hoping they would keep my house cooler than they do, but I am very hot natured and was hoping they would keep my home about 68-70 degree during the 100 degree summer weather, and that just didn't happen. I had window units in each of my two bedrooms and it was a good thing I did. I haven't used them as heaters yet, I'm hoping they will heat better than they cool. But all in all, I am happy with them. They are well built and seem high quality to me as far as the way they are built and they are sturdy and attractive as well.

However, it is nearly impossible to drain water from the lower valve unless you drill a hole in your floor or wall or place the unit on a stand. This is a big flaw in the design so I cannot recommend it unless you willing to have a drain hole with a tube in your floor or wall. Because of this It didn't meet our expectations. The store salesman highly recommended this unit and told us we would have to drain the water every 2-3 days but failed to mention how difficult it would be. The set up guidelines lack any information on how to drain the water from the valves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it should (cools a large room), and does it well Pros: Cools a large (20'x25') second-story room with lots of windows well Easy to set up and to use Exactly what we wanted Cons: Uses a significant amount of space in the room The compressor is noisy – we turn it off when we’re watching TV in the room (but the noise doesn’t bother us when we’re sleeping) The blue light panel on the front is annoying in a dark room. We cover the panel when we're sleeping. Other comments It’s heavy. Use a refrigerator dolly and at least two people to get it up stairs. It draws about 10 amps, so have it on a separate circuit or one with only a few light bulbs or equivalent. We set ours up to exhaust through a sliding-glass door frame (exhaust tube on the top, of course).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful and perfect for garage conversion We recently converted our garage into a studio except for the garage door. We were worried this would not be powerful enough. During the recent heat waves I was able to get the temp down to 76 from what was probably closed to 87 within a few hours. I didn't time it or measure the temp before so this is approximate. Having a fan as well helps to circulate the air which my contractor said is always good. also we installed through the side wide wall of the garage and not a window. We had a professional do it and it looks great!
