placed inside cabinet?

Would i be able to place this unit inside of a cabinet? The side of the cabinet would have a grate installed for air flow. The exhaust would be sent through the floor of the cabinet then ducked through a crawlspace then to the outdoors. Thanks for any help.
Asked by: NJ
There is probably one more issue whether it's in the cabinet or not. A/Cs put out water condensate' In this case it normally gets eliminated through the exhaust hose. If you run an extension through the crawl space there is the possibility that the water vapor could condense again inside the exhaust forming puddles and causing other problems You should look at other alternatives to disposing of the condenscate

If you need this item as a heater, do not waste your time; my wife's blower produces 10 times more heat (believe me) and the room I bought this for is 130 sq. ft aprox.!! Also, I don't understand how this people can still sell this unit that is noisy beyond words!! The service from H.D wasn't really good either; I had to order this twice b/c first time they sent a drawer chest instead!! The 1800 line doesn't even have a choice for complaints so you will feel the pain and that is just the starting point of the journey. In fairness they gave me 15% discount in the second unit but after trying form 2 or 3 days I just returned it

However, it is nearly impossible to drain water from the lower valve unless you drill a hole in your floor or wall or place the unit on a stand. This is a big flaw in the design so I cannot recommend it unless you willing to have a drain hole with a tube in your floor or wall. Because of this It didn't meet our expectations. The store salesman highly recommended this unit and told us we would have to drain the water every 2-3 days but failed to mention how difficult it would be. The set up guidelines lack any information on how to drain the water from the valves.

I have an added room on the back of our house this room started out as a sun room. but was finished to be an addition. My wife spends most of her time in this room, there was no heat or air in there. Had a smaller unit of the same manufacturer which worked pretty well until it got really cold, and after 3 or 4 years the heating side quit working. When I decided to buy a another I went with this bigger unit and so far it does the job of keeping the room well heated even though temps recently have been in the single digits. Don't know yet of the A/C but the smaller unit worked well and I expect the larger unit will work as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from cools down my garage My home office is in the garage. Fortunately it's insulated. The one window I have is up high. I installed this portable unit (on a platform about 5 feet high) to cool down my office during the summer months and heat it during the winter months. This is a 14000 btu unit, but ti seems to me that is not enough btu to cool down a garage in a NC summer. It will certainly make a 90 degree day feel like a 77 degree day in the garage, but if your expecting 72 on a 90 degree day, I don't think that is going to happen. You may need a 28000 btu to do that. (full blown window unit) Either way, this unit works good for my needs and keeps the humidity at a comfortable level. Add in a few fans to circulate the air and it works good. Overall I am very happy with the unit. The unit does require it's own 15 amp circuit breaker. That might be kind of hard to do if you got anything else that takes up amps in a given room. Fortunately, I have mine on an isolated 20amp breaker and I run a heavy duty 10 gauge extension cord to it. (It says not to use an extension cord, but I think they are talking about the silly extension cords that are too small). It does have a timer to turn off. (like a tv sleep timer). It's supposed to have a timer to turn it back on, but for the life of me, I cannot figure that out. This unit would be awesome if it had a programmable timer and temp control feature. M-F after 7pm, increase temp to 78 etc. It's just an timer to turn on and off. No programmable temp feature. I do recommend if you order this and have it shipped, don't just plug it in the first day you get it. Let it sit "upright" for 24 hours to make sure all the coolant has settled from shipping. It might have been laying on it's side during shipping. It is quite heavy. (80 lbs+)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from AC working Ok for now Using the AC unit in my garage (about 500sf). Outside temps here now in SC are in the 90s. Unit has brought the temp down at least 11 degrees and got rid of the humidity so I could work in my garage comfortably. My garage door nor ceiling are not insulated which are big factors. I will be working to update those two factors. Noise factor is tolerable - really don't notice the noise. Haven't tried the heater - that's for later in the year. Water pan has not needed to be emptied. Researched alot of units - I am happy with this unit so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Other bad reviews????? I read these reviews before the decision to purchase. I guess there is a lemon produced every so often? However ours was not one of them! We put this in our dinning room; about a 1400 square foot space; with westerly facing windows along the wall; direct sun 50% of the day. In 90 degree outside temps this unit maintained a CONSTANT 68 degree inside temperature. It would have gone lower but that is where we had it set. It cycled about every 30 minutes for a five to ten minute run. The sound level is no different than any other A/C unit we have or had. If you can get one like this I say BUY! Shipping and service from Home Depot is classical top notch. I see no negatives on this one! Bob Mayor of a small Pennsylvania town.
