Answer:
I have 5 of these and they need at least 15" from the ceiling to bottom of the light fixture. Depending you may need a remote due to the chain's hanging down for turning the different lights on or off and adjusting the speed of the fan.

Thank you for your question. Flush mount fans are not compatible with downrods. In general, if a fan is compatible with a downrod, it is shown in the photos online or on the packaging.

Answer:
If you are referring to the glass globes that cover the bulbs, I'm at a loss as all of my Carriage House fans have screws that can be loosened so that the globes can be removed. Each globe has three screws in the brass holder for the globe which you should be able to loosen by hand. If yours are missing you may want to ask about a replacement.

Sorry to hear that you are having an issue removing the glass. Please make sure that you have the Carriage House fan. The Carriage House has set screws above the glass and the screws can be seen in the detail photo on the product page and in the manual that can be downloaded from the product page. If you have a different fan or maybe a different light kit was added, there are a couple of other methods used to hold the glass. One is a simple twist lock design. If that is the case, the glass will just unscrew from the fixture. The other method is with tension springs. Look inside the glass and see if there are 2 long metal pieces. If the metal pieces are inside the glass, the glass will be able to be removed by firmly pulling the glass. The last method would be a tension nut that is screwed onto the socket to hold the glass in place. If none of these methods apply, please call customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON and one of our team members will help identify the light kit and advise how to remove the glass. Read Less

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The glass is held in place with thumb screws located on the light kit near the top of the glass shades. Simply loosen the screws and you will be able to remove the glass for cleaning.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Video showing it in action with some Details Carriage House Model # 22752 Ceiling Fan that uses four standard base bulbs. My video shows my surface mounting using a swag lamp type chain / power cord that plugs into a standard receptacle. June 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good deal I am writing this review as an electrician with hundreds upon hundreds of ceiling fans installed. I bought this for my own home because I wanted a 52 inch hugger fan that has 4 shades with normal medium base bulbs that wasn't absurdly priced. I also didn't want a remote or other bells and whistles. This was priced right and looks great. I could not initially find that this fan light kit wasn't candelabra which concerned me. It says: "four 60-Watt incandescent bulbs (not included)." You can have 60W incandescent bulbs in both candelabra and medium base (a15). Thankfully they were regular A15 bulbs. Also I received 4 "60" watt bulbs with mine. I put in quotations because they don't even remotely produce the lumens I'd expect from a 40 watt bulb. They are a joke, but since they 'weren't included' I won't ding the manufacturer. Installation was not easy as most fans. This motor bolted to the bracket with three 7/16 nuts. Most of the ones I've dealt with that are bolt/nuts are 3/8th size. Due to the size of the motor I couldn't tighten them all the way with the nut driver I had so I had to finish tightening them with a pair of pliers. The light kit was also the type where you had to thread all the screws in through a hole. Some you can leave a screw or two in and twist in in place, and others like this one make you wish you had three hands. It produces a somewhat cleaner look but it sacrifices ease of installation. That combined with the way the motor mounts is why it gets a 2/5 in that department. Overall though the price is great at $70 with free shipping, the fan is quiet, and it looks fantastic. I'd recommend this to anyone as long as they have the tools and the patience to install it. Looks so good I might buy a second one for the other bedroom in the next couple of months. Should this fan give me any problems I'll revise this review with exchange/return experiences. April 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great value Mounting screws for this ceiling fan were missing. Fortunately the fan I was replacing was identical thus the electrician used the screws from the old fan to mount the new one. There was a phone number furnished in the box to call to order any parts that were missing, however, that was of no use to me since I was not going to pay the electrician to make a second trip to continue the mounting when the missing parts finally would arrive. Obviously, quality control is not followed by the manufacturer. Seems a no-brainer to be able to furnish the correct number of screws. Thus the lower rating was given for ease of installation. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful and efficient fans! Two and a half years ago we bought an old farm house and remodeled it. Part of the remodeling included seven of these ceiling fans. They are very attractive and add much beauty to each room. Now we've moved and have replaced four older ceiling fans with the Carriage House 52-in. indoor polished brass fans. They have changed the appearance of the rooms and are quiet, but very efficient. The choice of two different wood grains on the blades was a plus as we were able to match furniture in each room. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CrossStitcher43 I'm guessing on the 'Ease of installation' question as I haven't had my electrician out to install them yet. However, I have inventoried each box, and the appearance and quality really do look excellent and all the parts are there. I am pleased. Can't wait to get them up. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great in my bedroom Bought and installed this fan to replace the one in my bedroom that quit working. Very attractive and quiet fan. Many years ago, when I was first installing ceiling fans, you had to rewire them so that the wall switch did not have to be on to use the fan (wired direct). This fan was already wired correctly so the wall switch controlled only the light and the fan was controlled with the pull chain. July 12, 2016
