Customer Questions & Answers

How do I replace bulbs in this model light mount? How does the covering come off?

Asked by: Aaron
the cover is held up by 4 thumb screws. 2 on each end. you may need a pliers to remove. you will need two people to remove. one to remove screws and one to hold up the cover. the bulbs are standard twist type. but the twist sockets are of very poor quality and will, in all probability, break rendering the light fixture useless. good luck.

Can the fluorescent bulbs be replaced with brighter LED light bulbs?

Asked by: ktch1
I refitted my fixture for LED bulbs. You can get LED bulbs that are ballast-friendly, but I opted to remove the ballast and rewire the power directly to the connectors. However, that should only be done if comfortable with electrical installations as different LED bulbs may have different connection requirements.

I purchased this recently (online) and decided that I wanted to use it with LED tubes instead of flourescent. Sharing my experience in case anyone else wants to do this. Be advised that the simplest way to do this would be to purchase LED tubes which allow you to keep the existing wiring, ballasts, and tombstones in place (many of the LED tubes do not support this and require minor rewiring). Usually this re-wiring is a minor operation, but this fixture does not come with standard flourescent tombstones. Therefore you will need to completely replace the tombstones with standard tombstones and then you will have the problem that this fixture does not have mounting holes/slots for standard tombstones. I resolved that problem with creative application of hot glue and zip ties, but it may be more work than you would like or expect to convert this fixture to LED, so a heads up. All that said, the end result is up in our kitchen and meets complete approval. I found 5000K LED bulbs too white for our kitchen so went back to 3200K LED bulbs.

It is a beautiful light, however, very heavy and impossible for one person to change lights and place cover on mount. The welding over the cover are poorly done. There are no glides to side the cover onto before securing it with the 4 screw mount. You are up on ladder (holding 20 lbs. over your head) while trying to line up the screws on one side needing another person on the other side to hold the cover secure. Every time you need to replace the lighting and clean it out from bugs you will need two people. After I had spent several hours mounting the lamp, I now have to return it being it requires two people. Maybe should have been graded for commercial use.

I enjoy the look of the light, however, (and this was mentioned in other reviews) the black foam that is supposed to seal around the inside of the light so that the light does not come over the top of the fixture, has already fallen off and never really worked to begin with. It seems the foam is not wide enough to close the gap between the top of the fixture and the ceiling. We are going to try to figure something out so that the light does not escape through the top.

It is a really nice looking light fixture, but a couple things could certainly improve it. If light leaking out where it attaches to the ceiling bothers you greatly, pass on this fixture, as light will leak. The gasketing is not thick enough and the frame needs more width to attach something more robust. It should have had a ridge around the inside to apply the gasketing, as is, it is worthless. However, I don't really get worked up about that and am pleased overall.

I have had 2 of these and both have been bad sockets to the point that they melted and could not get bulb out. The style of sockets are bad design that other bulbs would not come out either because they would brake. Had to take the whole light down with bulbs still in the fixture. Will not buy from this manufacture again. I have had this light for three years and already but a ballast in it also. Junk Junk Junk

This was an easy install, the only issue is the manner in which the glass and cover attach to the fixture. There is weather-stripping that is included but it does not attach well so with it not sticking it lets light shine thru the top up on the ceiling. looks great and I will live with the top gap until I can find a fix.

We just remodeled our kitchen and used tongue and groove I pickled for the ceiling. We needed a new light for the kitchen. I fell in love with this one. It was easy to mount, from good quality materials, and was just what the kitchen needed to top it off. Could not be more pleased. Great bang for your buck!
